Points Scored by Class This Season

Pablo, Any chance you can give us a minute breakdown of the same? Alone these numbers don't tell much of a story. If our seniors play 45-50% of the minutes then this doesn't concern me, if they play 30% then we may have some problems in our future.

I believe that the numbers tell us that despite having the most players on the active roster, the junior class (Erik Copes, Corey Edwards, Vaughn Gray, & Anali Okoloji) is contributing just 12.4% of the scoring. This is what concerns many of us as we look towards next season.

The senior class (including the departed Jonathan Arledge) has played 2,158 minutes (40.9%), while the junior class has played 975 minutes (18.5%).

Seniors: 40.9% of minutes & 50.4% of scoring
Juniors: 18.5% of minutes & 12.4% of scoring
Sophomores: 20.2% of minutes (1,066 minutes) & 21.9% of scoring
Freshmen: 20.4% of minutes (1,076 minutes) & 15.2% of scoring

Thanks for this. No question we are going to be driven by underclassmen next year and void of much senior leadership. One would expect our juniors probably carry the scoring load next season, our sophomores increase a bit and our freshman probably look a lot like this years class. This could all of course change if there is more player movement in the offseason.

Considering Sherrod was benched and worthless for a stretch, it's pretty remarkable that basically those 2 guards and occasionally a cameo by J2 account for more than half of our offensive output.

In addition to overall points, I am concerned about the FT attempts. We are losing two very aggressive guards that account for most of the teams attempts. Who steps up in the regard, Holloway and Gray don't seem to have that desire to attack as much as the other two.

Holloway attacks the rim sometimes but when he gets to the FT line he doesn't always make them. You would think his FT percentage would be higher considering how great of a shooter he is. Unfortunately, I think the ship has sailed on Gray..if he doesn't transfer/leave the program then how can we guarantee that he'll get minutes consistently? Hasn't happened in the last two years.

If Lockett and Mayimba are what people say they are then I think they'll get to the line some. They seem to be aggressive and like to drive the lane.

I'm more concerned with how the heck we're going to put the ball in the basket on a consistent basis overall.

This was part of my overall point. FT are easy, and the less we take will add that much more pressure to score during our shitty offensive sets.

You are right, hopefully one of the two freshman guards coming in have adequate handle and can get into the lane, but . . . freshman, so I am not expecting much.

Moore and Jenkins most likely. Mayimba and Lockett will also be aggressive attacking the basket, but it remains to be seen how effective they will be as freshman doing so.
