I never said it should be. But you can be in some like Tech's ballpark where it's an accessible school while still admitting much less than we do. 82% is really high. I don't want to be like UVA.

Didn't realize it had gotten up so high. Are they trying to follow ASU's "New American University" model?

They moved to the common app this past year, which greatly increases the number of applications. So in theory that can either work your acceptance rate downwards or upwards. If a lot of kids decided to apply for Mason through the common app as a backup, that number would increase. If a lot decided to add Mason onto their common app in the off chance Mason actually accepted them, the number goes down. So I guess the positive is kids going to places like UVA, W/M, or the city schools probably have us on their radar.

Granted the app may not be the reason. I know they want to get over 40,000 at some point (director of student involvement told me El Presidente told the staff that figure). Or maybe there was just a very qualified pool of applicants this past year.

I feel like we have to have one of the largest disparities in the country between our national ranking and our high school counselor ranking. This is probably due to our endowment which, if we're looking for a comparison would be like Pikapp's endowment relative to the average male.
Wow really? Lol

I don’t buy those rankings. My two remaining home bound kids are at Champe High school and Mason is the second most popular school behind Va Tech. And that school get high scores.

And if Mason’s endowment was like mine we could finish JMU’s football stadium.
