OT--Tournament Talk

I thought JMU was probably overrated due to the weak SB, but they look legit. Glad we didn’t play them this year.
Depends where game would have been? JMU wouldn’t have won in Fairfax. It’s been 20+ years. At JMU yes that would have been a loss. Mason couldn’t beat anyone on the road. The 3 loses at home are all still playing. JMU is solid team but far from amazing. Dayton has better players. Duquense and JMU would be good test. Good for JMU but they play in an absolutely god awful conference. 3rd place Troy likely finishes last in A10 for reference. I actually wish we would have played them. It wouldn’t have been a numbers destroyer game like usual.

Saw them early this year on TV. Already had quite a few wins. At the time I thought if what I saw was their standard level of play, they were going to be hard to handle if they got into the tourney. They had ball movement, shooting, aggression.

Wisconsin was no slouch. That's a statement game.

Yeah, if you took the names off the jerseys, you’d think Wisconsin was the mid major. JMU dominated the game from beginning to end. Final Score was not indicative of the game.

I had no idea Mason was so close to getting an NIT Bid. Obviously lots of schools turned down the NIT which is why ST Joes got a Bid, but damn I so wish Mason could have beat St Joes.

Disagree here- if there was any year to play JMU it would have been this year.

Win or lose, they would have come in being a really good basketball team and an excellent challenge to our guys in the non conf. That said, I think its also good we didn't play them because we needed some time to see what Tony could do as coach, and losing to JMU early on doesnt' sound like too much fun to me.

Completely agree, thought they played great team ball, defended REALLY well and looked like they knew what they were doing from the tip. They are going to give Duke all they can handle.

It was really impressive to see them play like they did last night.

That is interesting about GMU and the NIT. Something to build off of for next year. Per the PAC 12 and ASU, I totally understand why they had to join the Big 12. I wanted them to join the Mountain West for sake of regionality, keep it West Coast, but where Arizona goes, I think ASU must too.
