All-American
Didn't have that in my bingo card for 2023.
So where do their other teams play? ... I mean, if they leave for basketball, there's no reason the A-10 should allow the rest of their teams to remain.View: https://twitter.com/HitmenHoops/status/1717213461900374247
Anyone have a read on how serious this is? Would be a massive blow to the a10
It would be membership for all their sports. Army would be added for football only.So where do their other teams play? ... I mean, if they leave for basketball, there's no reason the A-10 should allow the rest of their teams to remain.
The tweet said basketball only, but no matter, particularly if it's only click bait.It would be membership for all their sports. Army would be added for football only.
Identical to the Wichita State/Navy arrangement.
Would take a pretty big commitment on budget and facilities from a public university to get up to the BE's level for vcu. Probably less of a jump for Dayton or SLU.The only move at this point that makes sense is the Big East but I don’t know what the BE’s interest would be in the Richmond market or vcu for that matter.
I feel like none of that would be an issue for vcu, they've shown a willingness to up their budget/commitment to basketball over the years. Don't see them missing on the long term benefits of being a BE member (increased exposure/sponsorships, media rights, etc). The question is would they be the BE's first call? Second call? Last call?Would take a pretty big commitment on budget and facilities from a public university to get up to the BE's level for vcu. Probably less of a jump for Dayton or SLU.
Piggybacking on your comment, yeah the Siegal Center is hemmed in. Not much room for expansion, if any.I feel like none of that would be an issue for vcu, they've shown a willingness to up their budget/commitment to basketball over the years. Don't see their facilities being an issue. Believe there is a new arena (not affiliated with vcu) being built about 20min from downtown, would imagine that'd quickly become an option if the BE was on the table (Siegel expansion not possible/realistic?). They've also recently announced a massive athletics village project covering most of their non-basketball sports that will include a soccer stadium, tennis facility, etc.
As Pablo says...Love will find a way..I see you Pablo...
Big props to Pablo for properly putting the those 3 ugly letters in lower case on the tweet respone.
Ah, college memories!
The only advantage the AAC has over the A-10 is more peer institutions. I can't imagine they would make more money what with the A-10's pay for performance revenue sharing.
