The court would be renamed, but not the stadium right? I want mason to continue getting paid in nameing right deals.

For example Virginia Tech’s football stadium is called Lane Stadium but the playing surface is called Worsham Field.
To my understanding that would be correct. EBA is not changing. It would just be "Coach Larranaga court at EBA".

I'm not sure how I feel about any and all of this. We definitely SHOULD honor Larranaga. Naming a court after him is a very high honor and while he deserves recognition, I am not sure it should be that high. In my 90 seconds of searching many of the folks who got a court named after them had much longer tenures at their programs. Just for sake of reference, Gary Williams and John Thompson had 20 years at their programs. Thompson also didn't get the honor until after he passed away.

In addition, I don't believe the A10 has one court named after a coach, not that it matters. Perhaps, if at some point, we do have more athletics space for administration, we can name something with his name. Maybe the "Coach L Basketball Excellence Center".

There is really no right or wrong answer at this juncture because its not happening, yet.

Yes, I was all in on naming the court after him at first, and even very recently, but I am moving farther away from it now.
I love Coach L and definitely want him honored, but the court....I just don't know.

Davidson’s court is named for McKillop.

Makes too much sense, especially now that L’s former players are running the Patriot Club and the men’s basketball program, not to go ahead and put his name on the floor.

While I hope that will change in the very near future, Mason Basketball IS the Larranaga era. All the people who effed up his departure are gone and it’s way past time to put that whole sordid mess to bed once and for all.

I guess that is the one example in the A10, and McKillop was at Davidson for 30+ years which proves my tenure point about court naming.

Interesting to see viewpoints from both sides, and that many of us are split on this issue. Id be interested to see what the "lower" tenure in years someone has and they have the court named for them.

I like Pikap's idea of a little Hall of Fame/basketball museum in the EBA. Have a room in the arena with photos, trophies, banners, jerseys, ect. that show the history of the men's and women's teams. This can get named after Coach L. Coach L Hall of Victory.

On his birthday we can have a ritual sacrifice of a lamb to ensure another season of basketball.

I’ve been proven wrong 2x haha. You’re right.

Yes, they named their court after him. He was there 12 years as hc but they waited until 2015 when he was 87 and 20 years after he retired.

Exactly! I have no problem with Coach L leaving for more money and a more prestigious conference, but he took the right to have our court named after him when he left. One of the perks McKillop should get for remaining loyal to Davidson is having Davidson's court named in his honor.

Name the court after whomever give the basketball program $10M or let the $10M donor name the court after whomever they want
We already have the "Jim McKay Natatorium" at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. "Kathy McKay Court" has a certain ring to it...

Isn't the 89 NCAA banner his and his team?
His banner, yes, but with Rick Barnes' team. Like the virus post Coach L, he could only win with the previous coach's team. Once his recruits became the main guys, losses began to be the main result of his coaching.

If I had to rate the Nestor tenure then it would be several notches worse than The Virus. Yens who were not there just don't know how bad it was.

Hot take. The virus had a bad beat. Mason entered the A10 at the A10s peak with 6 teams making the NCAAs. Mason’s fan base downplayed how vital Luke was to the programs success.

Obviously good coaches overcome obstacles, and he couldn’t.
