Not to mention not punishing UNC for creating an entire major for athletes so they could skate through school while doing next-to-nothing academically.

Surprised that UNC-Greensboro hasn't already received the death penalty for the academic fraud committed in Chapel Hill .... that's usually the way the NCAA operates.

Actually, the classes weren't just for athletes. About half of the students who took those classes were non-athletes. No one should ever look at a UNC graduate the same again.

Is he being punished? Or did our coaching staff fail to do due diligence in making sure the recruit they signed was academically eligible for NCAA competition based upon the established rules?

I honestly don't know either, but my assumption is that the responsibility would fall on Mason's admissions office to make sure all recruits have the proper transcripts, grades and test scores to get into the university. The only other time I can recall any controversy over a recruit was when Arledge graduated from the sketchy Kamit Institute for Magnificent (KIMA), which has since lost its charter.

Evidently, you forgot about JUCO transfer Steven Bonner who failed to gain admission to Mason. Additionally, Jason Miskiri was not eligible to play the fall semester of his junior season because of a deficiency in credits that transferred from junior college.

You are correct about the admission office's responsibilities.

But things are not cheery in Miami right now. Their attendance is dropping like a stone and the practice facility they built may now be structurally unsafe.

They face an almost must-win against BC today where attendance is not expected to break 2500. Them they go on the road for losses at Notre Dame and Duke.
