While evidently true in this case, many schools do make a player's release (particularly a star player) conditional on not transferring to a school in the same conference or its former coach's new school. What would have been the reaction of Mason Nation if Luke Hancock had transferred to Miami?

Hancock didn't come here for any reason other than Larranaga. If the coach leaves the kid should be able to follow. Most coaches won't do that however.

My mistake, because I actually thought that he also came to Mason for a quality education. But, then, I'm not a Mason alum so what do I know.
