My hatred for St Joes grows every time I am subjected to that flapping bird.

The history of the flapping hawk is actually pretty interesting. It started when St. Joe's did not have the funds to pay the electric bill on their crappy arena. So they thought and thought of a solution to this problem.

They considered solar power but the constant cloud over Philly even on sunny days from Eagles fans noxious farts, toxic burps and vagina related emissions made that unreliable. They considered putting up huge wind turbines. However, concerns of Philly sports fans climbing it after a loss or a win, made it a safety hazard.

But one young man who was determined to watch his hawks continue the season, bravely took it upon himself to make it happen.

He powered the generator by tying his arms to it and furiously flapping his arms like a bird non stop for the duration of a game. The game ensued and as soon as the buzzer sounded, he collapsed to the floor and died a hero.

To honor this young man, the Hawk now flaps his wings during the entire game like a retarded pigeon caught in one of the many rat traps across Philadelphia.

The End.

...and I thought it was St. Joe's way of giving the bird to the other team...

More natural rivalries in the CAA is a better way to say it. Plus smaller conferences you see the same teams more...begin to hate them more. UNCW certainly was a rival, NE became one.

Cant recapture the CAA best years in terms of smaller stage hate and tourney fun with every team staying at one hotel.

Yes. Thank you for putting it into better words.

Give me St. Joes, GW, vcu, and Richmond over whoever is left in the CAA any day.

Yeah, I think pretty much everyone feels the same way and gets that. Nothing wrong with being a little nostalgic for the rivalries of five in-state Virginia teams, though.

At one point we had six plus American. That was pretty cool too.

But it's time to look and go forward. Forward into another inane off-season conversation.

Yeah totally agree. Once GMU gets into at large territory it’s gojng to be gravy and that much more worth it. No complaints about moving to A10. Happy to see GMU here, just had to get used to leaving the comfortable small town regional feel of CAA.

I miss beating JMU twice every season.
JMU is such a natural rival because we are competing for who is a better VA university.

JMU students act as if their school is so great but most people living outside of VA never even heard of James Madison. If you ask a person about James Madison they might even say of that's the Cinderella that went to the Final 4.

I hope we continue to see them on the schedule.

*trashes JMU’s academics with a post littered with misspellings and grammatical errors*

"there school"

There is a lot of poorly phrased sentences as well like "most people living outside of VA never even heard of JMU." Reading that aloud is like nails on a chalkboard.

JMU has great academics. We can't take that away from them. But they also are not a Research 1 university, so they aren't really a peer institution in the first place. It would be like comparing GMU to Davidson.

Right move for the team, but I miss the annual Mecca to Richmond for the CAAT. This is my view this evening while staying here for youth b-ball tournament.
