I think this started out with Hewitt trying to toughen up his players. And the softest one retreats. Guess the plan worked.

I'm confused, the source is some dude in the stands? I think we need more than that before we start saying Arledge is gone

Lets face it. He's gone. I think we'll be fine. We can easily replace his 9ppg and 5 rebounds per game. Heck Jenkins and Marko are already there in terms of rebounds.

He was impressive towards the end of last season. That being said, the whole "NBA angle" is laughable. Now, if he wants to go play someplace else in his final collegiate year of eligibility? Take the high road and help him get that done.

I pointed out the guy is 6'9" with a bad back. According to Steve Goff's write up Coach Hewitt said it was about pain tolerance. Nobody wanted to believe me when I said the guy wouldn't be back. He's got a bad back.

Redshirts aren't decided until after the season. A 5th year is almost never rejected to my knowledge.

Arledge has an NBA body but he's not an NBA player. Guys who are 6'9" and can't finish in traffic, rebound at their height or effectively defend their position are a dime a dozen in the D-League. I'd hate to lose him because he seems like a great kid and has always represented the program well, but this NBA angle just needs to go away.

I he had put on 10-15 pounds of muscle this offseason (like Juvonte Reddic has), learned how to play with passion and fire, learned how to position himself for rebounds, and how to play defense without fouling, then there would be NBA talk (like there is for Juvonte Reddic). He has enormous amounts of work to do even to be in the conversation.

Best of luck to the guy, whatever happens. I'm certainly disappointed.

There were other sources as well, I wouldn't put it out there if there weren't. There's certainly a lot of smoke here, and where there's smoke...

As I indicated on the other thread, Jonathan has played this season and would have to meet the requirements for a medical hardship waiver to regain his final season of eligibility.

I'm a little shocked this story was written this early. Guess we going rogue.
I agree, I was simply sharing information I heard, didn't think it would become a "news story" My info is from 1 person who is definitely on the JA side of the story. I have since asked someone from the other side of the story and they said there were a lot of rumors and not sure how things will play out including on the injury front.

I did this earlier today but could not find an easy way to upload a table. Guess a screen cap will have to do.

Arledge vs Marko - stats per 40 minutes played since beginning of last year.

Correct. It's not automatic. But I've never heard of a 5th year medical hardship being rejected, so long as a player met the games played qualification (I believe he can only have played in the first third of the season, although Paris Bennett got an exception IIRC because he only played like 2 minutes after the first third). It's the 6th year ones that often get rejected.

Are we sure he is really leaving - or considering what the Coach told and offered him? I just see this as being an odd series of events as it has been described.
