You don't think JMU isn't paying attention to the mess ODU has put themselves into?
Good point. I'm not sure what (it anything) they're paying attention to out there. It always seems like JMU is content just being JMU.

It's not even that high. It's only like 1,000 more than they currently have. Something like 21,000 (although most of the will be seats as opposed to bleacher benches.) Correct me if I'm wrong but it isn't a new field, just a massive renovation of the current one. They also landed a one-in-a-million stud QB in Heinicke and were throwing their shoulders out patting themselves on the back with how "easy" it was to revive a dead football program.
Are they still on track to build that new football stadium? Last I read it would seat something like 25,000 fans and open before 2020.

JMU's fan base is delusional. They want to jump at any opportunity to become FBS, even if it means the Slum Belt. Their admin has had it right all along. You don't think JMU isn't paying attention to the mess ODU has put themselves into?
I have wanted GMU to pursue football, but I have to admit, my views have changed. We have a shitty fanbase. We don't show up for basketball games, we don't create a great home atmosphere. We don't give to the program in any meaningful way. There's no reason why football would be any different.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having FBS/BCS aspirations and I give ODU credit for pursuing it and accomplishing what they have in so little time. Having no other regional rivals for football attention, my impression is they have created a pretty good game day atmosphere there that can only have a positive impact on the students and alumni.
Financial implications are another issue - but if a team wants to get to BCS, they pretty much have to do what ODU is doing. Start at FCS, build a solid program, jump up to FBS wherever they can get their foot in the door, take a ton of lumps by playing guaranteed games for $$$, reinvest into the program and go down what will inevitably be a very long road towards joining a BCS conference, maybe.
To me, the biggest argument against (again, aside from the costs) is the extremely limited opportunities to join a BCS conference.
I'm right there with you, I couldn't understand why mason didn't have a football team But as much as it kills me, I get it now. I wish I tailgated for the club team. Bring the grills and the Green machine and it would of been a blastI used to love the idea of football at Mason. But as Herndon pointed out we haven’t as a fan base earned it.
Also college football is a cartel. There is virtually no chance anyone out of the P5 that can even qualify for the playoffs. And year after year it’s becoming more so.
Not saying you couldn’t enjoy football anyway. I would love to be able to go to a Mason football game on a crisp autumn Saturday afternoon. But as we grow up we realize you can’t get everything you want.
At this point I have fallen in love with Mason basketball so much that a couple of Home football games each fall is not worth the millions of dollars it would cost and divert funds from the hoops team.

Oh yeah, a troll, a D-Bag and the greatest lawyer in America gathered around a sterno discussing why the volunteer coach should be fired and Saban brought in.
A Blast!!!
Has anybody noticed how fat millennials are getting? It's disgusting!
Yes, its disgusting. There is a millennial in my office who continues to get largr and larger. It started about 8 months ago and now she looks like she is carrying a basketball under her belt.
