Hysteria aside, what can realistically be changed?

I was talking with friends and fans at Brion's before the game tonight and had a thought. I know, I know, they come so infrequently. We've all heard DP talk about how we practice so well but it doesn't carry over into game. Suggestion for consideration. Practice at EBA as often as possible. Shooting in the practice facility and EBA is night and day in comparison just on depth perception alone. I can tell you that Duke practices at Cameron. We have no real advantage at home if we don't prepare there as often as possible. But 81 EBA is used for so many other things. Yeah, I know. All the university has to do is shut it down and close it off for team use. But 81, the university will lose money. Yeah, I'm aware of that too. Do we want a winning program or revenue? That would be the fundamental question. My 2 cents.

Good point. I do think the dimensions and lighting in the practice facility were made to simulate the Eaglebank Arena environment however. I suspect they still do some in the arena.

So, where did team practice when Larranagas was coach?

I thought the practice facility was supposed to be a good thing for the program!
The original plan for a practice facility was for it to be adjacent to the arena. That would have allowed easy use of the arena when available and the practice gym when not.

Shooting well and scoring are only a part of the game. There are also things called defense, B-ball IQ, and fundamental skills that don't necessarily have to be practiced in an arena.

Figured this is a good thread to link my write-up. Check it out:

Mason is allowing opponents to shoot 72.4% at the rim, the 13th worst mark in all of NCAA basketball. Opponents are taking 37.5% of their shots at the rim, 239th in the NCAA. In other words, opponents are getting to the rim a lot, and they’re making everything. More than anything, these two numbers sum up the season – there are issues all over the court, but they all matter less when you can’t stop the opponent from getting layup after layup.
