I wasn't saying CJL denegrated mid majors. I only said he pined for the big teams to play MMs when at Mason, but didn't give MMs or Mason a game when he had the chance.
It wasn't my intention to imply that. I was going along the idea that he didn't really do much for Mason or mid-majors when he had the opportunity to make a real impact as a P5 coach. After being the face of and unofficial spokesperson for mid-majors, he pretty much did nothing for us/mid-majors and at times said the exact opposite of what he said when he was at Mason.

To be clear I don't have an issue with him doing that. I applaud him for taking the bigger pay check and cementing his Hall of Fame legacy as one of the greatest coaches by taking Miami to the final 4, thus doing it for two teams that had never done it previously. He was a great paid spokesperson for Mason while he was here and he is now a great paid spokesperson for Miami. He just isn't the hero to George Mason that he could have been and that some people seem to be trying to make him out to be.

Yes, he did leave, which makes me think naming the court after him is too much...though for a long time I would have strongly supported it. Had he finished out his career here, and especially if GMU had had continued success, then by all means yes.

Also it’s interesting that with his retirement tweets- Larranaga only calls out Miami and talks about being all about the U.

Didn’t even mention Bowling Green or Mason.

Don’t get me wrong, we need to do something. Just an observation. I’m really fine with whatever is decided and hope it’s done before Larranaga is 90 years old.

which of the 70+ year old and old school coaches will leave the game? or
even old school coaches who don't want to deal with NL and the transfer portal?

ACC and Big East are arguably the 2 most basketball prominent major conferences. With the SEC on a recent rise.

" Larranaga becomes the sixth longtime ACC coach to step down since April 2021, following North Carolina's Roy Williams, Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, Notre Dame's Mike Brey, Syracuse's Jim Boeheim and Virginia's Tony Bennett. "

"The opportunity to make money someplace else created a situation that you have to begin to ask yourself as a coach what is this all about," Larranaga said. "And the answer is it's become professional."

Here's something that popped into my head. What if we named that new athletic building after Him?
Academic progress center i think it is?
My thought, if he needs something like this, is to name the upper level of the practice facility after him. I believe that’s where the coaches offices are going to be. The Larranaga Level. No ñ.

Spot on! The Jim Larranaga coaching wing or something.

I’d like to see us go after an actual sponsor for the new facility in some capacity, bring in whatever sponsorship revenue we can get from this shiny new project.

The George Mason Athletic & Academic Center powered by XYZ company.

Have the Braddock rd 'Neighbors' come up with the money to build us a baseball stadium?

Seriously, it's all about relationships. I don't see the Athletics Dept building them to a degree needed to fund anything massive.

Invite them to parties, feed them well, give them lots of drink - have pretty women around - make sure there are hidden cameras and mics everywhere and just bank on the pictures and audios yield something valuable.

I realize he went to Georgetown, but if he made a large donation, I'd be on board with The Allen Iverson 'We're Talking About Practice' Facility.
