I remember the board knocking kolek’s high school performances because he played against scrubs in Rhode Island lol. Shows how little we know lol.
Recruiting must be part science and a whole lot of luck
there are many competing and complex factors needed to project from a 17-year old's high school performance to college level competition - in any league.

inevitably those who figure it out will do well.

There was only one person who kept doing that. That same person dogged Oduro for two seasons and wished we had recruited Chase Paar instead…
I would bet money, if we went back and looked, that same person dogged Kier and Miller at some point who ended up as starters on a #1 ranked team and an elite 8 team, respectively.

Many on here complained that DP wasn't recruiting three and four star players.

A team with Oduro, Kolek, Miller and Polite would be at the top of a weak A-10.

Curious how Miller is being used at Miami vs how he was used here?

I guess you are also saying DP is gonna stick it to us tonight.

We’ll never know, but I’d bet they wouldn’t be.

Or if they were, they’d have at least 3 wins that were flukey in league play regardless.

In addition the kids never get developed the way they are now and stay mediocre, or they all leave regardless.

Counterpoint: a DP-coached team with Oduro, Kolek, Miller and Polite would be like 150th and in the middle of the pack in the A10, because all of DP's teams were like 150th and middle of the pack in the A10.

Not with that talent, IMHO.

Unfortunately, we'll never know.

So he just needed more time?

He had plenty of time and plenty of teams with talent. Otis Livingston, Justin Kier, Jaire Grayer. Javon Greene. Various others.

He didn’t get it done, and us wondering what could have been for a coach who literally had the same team for 50+ games and finished around .500, is silly.

Almost all of DP's top talent transferred away...wasn't just the year he got sacked. We were losing top players every season to other schools. It'd be dumb to assume that we'd keep Miller AND Kolek...both would have probably still been gone. Miller especially.

Jordan was definitely gone. Tyler’s AAU coach is one of DP’s former players and they’re very close, so I think he probably would’ve stayed at least for one more year until he realized he’d never play in the NCAA tournament at Mason.

Yeah and my guess that if he had stayed, DP wouldn't have figured out how to work him up to the PG slot. Maybe he would have but that's speculation at this point...not a lot of evidence of DP working players up to a new position. Credit to Shaka for getting the most out of the kid.
