Giving Day is coming up April 5th. I went on the website and looked at the projects - one of them is the Basketball Facility Renovation Fund. Is this the same as last year or is this phase 2? Anyone know any more details about it?

I believe Phase 1 is done and this refers to Phase 2, which, I think, call for adding offices and locker rooms onto the current practice facility.

I think it's written generically enough that this may also include the remaining locker room renovation dollars they need to get that project complete. Wish that construction was going on today while we have a recruit on campus, but I think we are still waiting for final funding to come in.

Phase I is done but it was waaaaaay smaller than phase II. It was essentially just getting a court and putting locks on the doors. They still need to complete the locker room in EBA, add offices and weight rooms to the practice facility, and plaster the place with branding.

Phase II is going to cost several million, correct? And then there is the academic support building they want to build as part of it that brings the total to something like $15 million. It’ll be interesting to see how long this takes.

Does anyone know if there is any benefit to the university tied to that specific date? Like, if I donate tomorrow, does it somehow "count less" than if I wait til April 5?

I’m pretty sure if you donate before tax day you can still count it as part of last year’s taxes. This, of course, doesn’t matter if you don’t itemize.
