Agreed. But if it’s part of the RAC at least the volleyball and wrestling teams compete inside the building and there’s a reason to go.

I wonder if the Athletic Hall of Fame is actually in the current plans for the RAC expansion - https://www.gmu.edu/news/2024-01/new-center-will-better-support-masons-student-athletes

Unless I'm mistaken, this is the school's last official announcement on the Hall of Fame:

"As part of Homecoming 2002 festivities in the Patriot Center, the George Mason Athletics Department will re-launch its official Athletics Hall of Fame with a halftime ceremony during the televised men’s basketball contest on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at 2 p.m.

The new Athletics Hall of Fame, dormant since the late 1970s, will include seven members who were enshrined during that decade. Also, a Hall of Fame constitution and criteria will be announced, kicking off an annual campaign of candidate review for induction."

Hopefully, it will be accessible to students and fans and provides displays of GMU sports. IMO, in telling the story of its sports history, the displays should recognize the contributions of outstanding athletes regardless of whether they meet the criteria for induction in the Athletic Hall of Fame.

Regarding Carlos Yates, I believe a separate display is warranted that tells his story including any issue(s) that preclude his induction.
He should be recognized, and perhaps total honesty is the best way to do it.
If, though, he is the sole reason for the hold up, then perhaps he should be left out. To not have a HOF at all is unfair and an insult to all those who deserve to be in it.

Just drove by the campus on 123 and noticed the framework had gone up for a building behind the PE building. Is this the practice facility?

AD Lewis: If you're reading this, vcu's Joey Rodriguez will be the 8th men's basketball player at the school to have his jersey retired - https://vcuathletics.com/news/2024/...l-four-standout-joey-rodriguez-on-nov-29.aspx

"
Rodriguez's jersey will be the eighth retired by the Rams in program history, joining Eric Maynor (No. 3), Calvin Duncan (No. 5), Bradford Burgess (No. 20), Treveon Graham (No. 21), Gerald Henderson (No. 22), Kendrick Warren (No. 23) and Charles Wilkins (No. 40)."

Isn't time to start honoring former George Mason men's basketball players by inducting them in the Athletic Hall of Fame or retiring their jersey?

I'm not much of a fan of retiring numbers. If it is to be done it must be sparingly and for players that changed the program for the long-term. In that regard, only George Evans' #21 should be retired.

Hall of Fame??? Yes! Loooooong overdue.

Anyone want to email or bring up the topic verbally to Marvin? I’m not local or I would.

Agreed. Only George Evans.
Should Kenny Sanders get a mention?
EDIT: Definitely Sanders.

Evans is a no brainer.
I'd go with Sanders as well. 1st in minutes played, 2nd in total points, 3rd in average points per game, 1st in total number of rebounds, 2nd in rebounds per game, etc...
Carlos Yates?
