Always happy for a win. Thought we had some good stretches offensively in the half court. Still seems like we are searching for an identity and are missing a go to guy. Kier still seems like he’s missing a step. I wish if we were going to press it would be more than token pressure but it seemed to work decently today. Winnable game next week at GW.

Earlier in the game, Miller was not at the front of the press.

Nice adjustment at halftime by DP and the staff to get Miller at the point of the press, resulting in some key turnovers to start the 2nd half.

Fair point, ehoops, but it does beg the question with his length and quickness why he wasn’t at the point of the press in the first place.

I mean, they only gave up 23 points in the first half. Looks like they saw an opportunity to try to generate some easy turnovers and took it. I’m glad it paid off.

Agree on all points. I loved our defense in the first half and our press. I was just pointing out that Miller should always be at the point of the press. He altered the game completely at the beginning of the second half. We are at our best when we are creating steals and converting them into easy buckets. Need to keep it going at GW Wednesday.

This board is so quiet when we win. Wonder why that is?
Always nice to get a win. I hope the team got some of their mojo back. But, I wouldn't stick too big a feather in our caps.

I'm not sure LaSalle has a single player that I'd want on our team. Maybe Phiri? LaSalle also doesn't play a style or have the type of personnel that gives us trouble.

Jordan Miller basically won that game for us in a two-minute stretch with 7 points, 3 steals, and an assist. Take those two minutes away, and we played even basketball with the second worst team in the conference.

If we beat anyone of consequence, the board's wouldn't be so quiet. But it's LaSalle, so . . .

GW is definitely worse than La Salle. I think it's also a little disingenous to say we played them even, when we held a 20+ point lead throughout most of the second half. I mean, La Salle didn't even score 10 points in the second half until 10:33.

I'd take Phiri and Croswell. I think Sherif Kenny is going to be a good player for them down the line. He's just a freshman.

Fordham, Joe’s and GW are all much worse than La Salle, which was only a few spots behind us in KenPom before today.

I don’t think beating them calls for chest-thumping. Just noting there are several posters who only show up here when we lose. Glad they are disappointed right now.

Not disingenuous. We went on a 14-0 run to start the second half (we were already up 3), and we won by 13.

And we didn't call off the dogs. We pressed and stuck to our normal rotation.

Just glancing at results, I think GW is better than LaSalle. Could definitely be wrong, we will see on Wednesday. Let's get another W!

Good to get this win. We only see them once and it will be of consequence if we happen to be near the PIG.

also shows us where we are at in this conference at the moment. We’ve continued our trend from last year of beating the lower teams. Gotta continue that next week and prove that we aren’t going downward and are continuing our mediocrity.

Glad mason got the win today, I haven’t been able to watch the entire game carefully but it’s good the guys took care of business and it wasn’t very close. Still skeptical on direction but I’d be okay if they go out and take care of gw too. No reason to lose to the lower tier teams or be in the PIG at this point.

from what I can see, we are going to mightily struggle against any team with a dominant big. So thinking SLU (French), URI (Langevine), Duq (Hughes), Richmond (Golden — though he’s not great on D), vcu (Santos-Silva), Bona (Osun). That’s 7 games still on our schedule.

Cant believe I forgot Dayton: 8 games. Got to win two of these to finish .500 or better.

It’s the same problem we’ve had all but the first two years and in the first two years we didn’t have the depth to compete. Until we can find that 5 we won’t break into the top tier.

You kind of saw this coming and it fits the profile...two high-profile TV losses at home and then a nice win out of state nobody saw.

Net fan base affect...still negative.

But, let's keep it going, GW people will (possibly) see...

Nice to see Kier slashing to the basket again. Hopefully its growing pains with Jordan but we need him as aggressive every game as he was today.

No reason to hype this win but a loss would have been a disaster.

I don’t disagree with you that mason will struggle with some of these teams but we have also seen Mason win despite missing a dominant big man. I do think that they are going to have to sneak a win that they aren’t supposed to win to be above .500

agreed. If we have Jordan locked in like that on the top of the press, put other guys locked in on the defensive side of the ball I think the team will be in the middle tier. I really liked what Javon did on both sides today as well.

Any league win is a good win, but the bottom tier games are absolute must wins. Gw is another one that falls into the must win category for respectability. Nothing to party about but definitely good to take care of business.
