I know you're (mostly) joking, but I think it's important as fans never to get to that level. I'll pan him on here for the fact that we seem to be a rudderless ship, and he's supposed to be the rudder. We look good against bad teams because we have good players and good kids. They can exert their will against lesser athletes. But against tougher teams, kids need their adult to do the job better than what we've seen. But, I would never participate in any kind of "Fire Dave Paulsen" campaign. Besides the fact that I don't believe in a mid-year fire, I also think it's bad for the program for the fans to act like that.

But tonight, I say F Dave Paulsen.

I try to be as even keeled as anything, but tonight was over the top pathetic. I don’t care that the team is young, or whatever.
One thing I always wanted post hewitt was a coach that would have his team show up, play good basketball, and rarely be embarrassed at home.

They shouldn’t have a game like that at this juncture. I really think they may lose to Lasalle and or Gw, and could be headed for the play in game this year.

Anything less than 7th and I think you have to make some real evaluations. And right now it’s early, but it’s not looking good with the league being strong.

But see, this is why you take so much heat on here. There is ZERO value in an "I told you so," particularly when it's, "I told you that something you loved actually sucks." You have been accused of actually wanting Mason to lose, just so you can be right. Posts like this advance their case. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't over-the-top, no personal attacks, etc. But it rubs me the wrong way when there is even a hint of pleasure in the failure of something we all love.

I get that, that's not my intent. I want nothing more than to see Mason succeed. That's why I want Paulsen gone.

So I’m sitting first class in the Fire paulsen train, but I won’t advocate for a mid season firing. I don’t see what we gain from it. Simpkins takes over as a lame duck auditioning for a role? Paulsen needs to go, but we need to have the resemblance of a plan in place and it needs to be after the A10 tourney.

All that being said I haven’t been so frustrated as watching a Mason game as I have tonight. It was all of my complaints about Paulsen and his system (really lack thereof) all rolled into 30 consecutive minutes of just bad basketball.

We weren’t even playing fundamentally sound basketball those last 30 minutes. There were entire possessions where our players didn’t even look at the basket until 7 seconds left in the shot clock. Defense was uninspired. I’ve never seen a tamer, lamer press than what we throw at teams.

If we want to create a culture of accountability then it starts at the top.
