JMU @ George Mason hoops
That’s right! JMU has a big game tonight. After the thrashing of the Spiders in football, the hoops team plays at George Mason.
I think JMU has played George Mason more than any other team and the rivalry continues tonight.
It should be a contest of two equivalent teams. Both of them will be missing a starter tonight and for several more games due to injury. JMU should be able to leverage its backcourt for an advantage over Mason’s which is reliant on Freshmen and Sophomores.
Of course, The side story is coach Rowe vs coach Paulsen. If you recall, Rowe refused to shake his hand after last year’s game and was unprofessional in his speech. Paulsen is a bit of a weasel and he looked scared during the interaction so there is something that had been brewing between the two for a long time. Also, Rowe was very emotional in his postgame radio interview and started saying very cryptic, incoherent, and odd things that didn’t make sense. It seemed like he was having a mental breakdown live on TV and radio. Certainly It was a strange chain of events that Rowe never really explained after the fact and he didn’t attend the weekly JMU press conference a few days later to explain.
Tonight the Dukes get rid of the bad vibes and come through in crunch time to pull a minor road upset. Rowe decides to shake Paulsen’s hand, but only because he wins this time. It would be classic if they got into a fist fight and I think Rowe would clean his clock.
