Brutal. So UNC Ash will play their 6th game on Tuesday and have yet to play a home game.

Did their arena get damaged by the hurricane/flooding, or are they just grabbing money from buy games?

The UNC Asheville campus sustained damage from Hurricane Helene, but the university was generally fortunate and avoided significant structural damage:

  • Power, water, and internet: The campus was without power, running water, and internet for a time.

  • Athletics: Some athletic teams had to temporarily relocate to other institutions for training and competition.

  • Disaster relief fund: The university established a disaster relief fund to support the campus community. You can donate to the fund at giving.unca.edu.

The university estimates that the total cost of repairs and recovery will be around $32 million, with an additional $14 million for debris removal, cleanup, and minor repairs. The university is seeking insurance reimbursement for covered repairs and may also request further aid from the state.

Students can expect to return to campus for the Spring 2025 semester.

Classes were suspended through Oct. 9th and then moved to all on-line until the spring semester.

They were without drinkable water for 53 days.

Wow, so now I'm shocked they're playing at all, good for them keeping it going.

First - who drinks water anyway?

Second - wow I feel for them. Hope they are getting the assistance they need.

Third - That's crazy. I looked at their schedule and they DO have home games on their list. So, the campus isn't open for students, but they are going to have bball games there?

Wonder if it will be Billups or KD starting tonight?

I also wonder if we will still see an 8-man rotation and if it is going to be Begg or Quigley who is the 8th?
