We lost to a CAA team. The leading scorer for the CAA team does grandma style tosses at the free throw line. :bricks: Is it possible for the A10 to revoke George Mason's membership in the conference? Yes we can beat Catawba, and no we cannot beat Wright State. I am getting really tempted to join the rest of the student population. The rest of the student population which is 95%, who don't give a damn about men's basketball.

Hewitt's contract has got to be one of the worst expenditures of money in DI basketball. Kind of like the Yankees A-Rod contract. (with a lot less scrutiny - I'm sure the Hewitt dissatisfaction was felt by Hewiit at GTech 100X what it is at Mason) Now that's saying something. As long as Brad Edwards is paying attention - that's all that matters.

I'm determined to forget about Mason bball the rest of the day - on to the NFL.

Thinking about whether to pay the A-10 the $40 to watch Mason this year. I likely will, but never had to think about it this hard. I mean last year, I was all giddy w/ anticipation due to the CIT run. Hewitt's left no doubt we suck this year - don't see another win until the mighty Catawba Indians. What a joke.

Catawba has a new coach this year and has the Indians playing good ball......you never know with PH in charge.

Does anyone really think there is a chance that PH is shit canned before the end of the season? Maybe if we start the season off like 1-13?

Just don't see it happening. That is so rare unless there's a crime, alcohol, abusive towards players, something. This guy is clean as a whistle and won't be fired for performance reasons til the end of the season.

This is a freaking embarrassment. We have 0 business losing to this CAA team on a neutral court. Our program is a freaking joke.

Normally I would agree with you. However, someone posted after an earlier loss - ( I can't remember who- and kudos to him) that if Hewitt makes it to March 1st he gets a longevity bonus of $85,000. If not for that, I think he lasts until the end of the the year. Unless Mason sees some dramatic (and unexpected I'm sure) improvement from Hewitt, I see no reason to give this guy $85,000 more after the boatload he's already made from being a crappy basketball coach.

Hewitt needs to make some move to show that he is trying. I think an absolute must is to change up some assistant coaches. This would at least show some acknowledgement that coaching is an issue.

I am willing to bet that if we don't turn things around by conference play Brad Edwards will make his first major statement of his time at Mason by dismissing Hewitt. It will set the tone for all teams about the expectations that the University should have for all of it's programs. If he doesn't I will lose faith in him too.

I'll take that bet.

I think Edwards makes a stronger statement by giving him enough time and then firing after he can't turn it around. At this point you could argue straight-faced he's replacing his top two scorers and a front court starter so takes time to gel as a squad.

March 1st is the big date in my opinion. I don't expect anything to happen prior to conference play.

I certainly like what I see of Thompson and Porter. The downside there is that it appears Jenkins is lost. With the two big guys playing near the rim, Jenkins doesn't seem sure what to do. Not good considering how effective he was last year.

But we have no one who can shoot other than Holloway and he seems to take too many bad shots because no one else can score from more than 3 feet from the basket.

Very depressing watching this team. Take a hike Hewitt. You've now taken us down to the bottom rung of the ladder. Time to let someone else get us back up because you obviously cannot do it.

Ah. I was not aware of that (or was aware and forgot). In that case, I agree with you but see him getting a chance to attack the conference season. If he's let go mid-season I would expect it to ve much, much closer to March 1
