Wasn't talking about Okijie. Of course he was a bright light. How about replacing
Kelly, Polite, Newton, Billups (great defense, no offense). Kelly inspite of 14 points played terrible. His defense or lack of it was just poor. It's all in Skinn's hands.
Well it was said all 5. But yes. Haynes should be tough kid at the 4. Maddox as 3rd, Okie Haynes Maddox, need 1-2 more shooters and another forward. Billups and Ball come off the bench. Should have at least 3 spots open with Hall, Dinkins and one more going. If Hall somehow comes back. Need 1 forward and 1 shooter but that's not happening. Yes Kelly was just way way too soft most of the time. He was pretty bad today. Okie and Maddox tried, Skinn is going to have to have a hard convo with Polite and tell him it's time to go.

was a pretty off-day all around. we came out flat, timid, afraid to play.

Congrats to St. Joe's. you proved to be the better team this year and did so again when it matters the most.

20 win season. I'm pleased. We need to get taller and bulkier in the off-season. I think Tony is working on some massive, big men to bring in to go along with Haynes. We need them. Amari Kelly had a decent year picking up the role that Oduro departed.

Altogether, I wish our 4 seniors all the best. Time to bring in new talent. Go Mason!

Ronnie did get recognized at senior day.
I think he's already decided to not come back.

I agree better team won, better coach lost. Lange is a joke. Can't imagine that dude has more than 1 year left.
On national TV - both at the half and at the end of the game - Lange revealed he doesn't know what he's doing. At the half he wondered out loud, "With some of the shots you wonder...'Are they good or bad?' but hey, that's how we play!"

At the end he said, "I wish we were playing some other team instead of Richmond."

As to the first point, most of us can tell a good shot from a bad one. And regarding the latter point about not wanting to play Richmond. What coach would ever admit this???

Still, SJU is moving on - not because of Lange - but in spite of him.

Overall the season was meh. Measuring stick for me was meeting KEs win total in conference, which we did.

I do not care about 20 wins whatsoever, we did it beating the blind and deaf and ultimately it means nothing. When we win 20 actually scheduling tough opponents I’ll be impressed.

A lot of work to do on this roster in the offseason. There’s a lot of opportunities to come to Fairfax and earn quality minutes.

I’m not disappointed in what Tony was able to put together this year, but I’m also far from impressed.

Certainly an interesting season. Lots of ups and down. I'd give it something in the C plus B minus range.

Have you seen Ronald play? 39-100 overall. 14-52 from 3 in conference play. I cringe at what he was today. Can't guard anyone.

39-100 is 39%, a very respectable percentage. Had he taken as many 3s as Maddox shooting 39% he’d have 3 fewer made 3s than Maddox.

He unfortunately didn’t show up today

Not going to pick a fight because that's not my MO but you and I clearly have different definitions of respectable. No worries.

Maddox Overall from 3 67-162 (41.4%)
Maddox Conference Play from 3 39-95 (41.1%)

Polite Overall from 3 27-91 (29.7%)
Polite Conference Play from 3 14-52 (26.9%)

I didn't catch the whole game but this looked like a textbook case of Big Stage Jitters. Guys were amped and ready to go and if you aren't used to the adrenaline you start missing long, missing short, or just doing bone-headed stuff you'd never do. I'm guessing Tony was probably amped for this game as well and maybe they practiced too hard, or not hard enough. It can be tough...I remember my senior recital I was a ball of anxiety until I was about 2/3 of the way through my first piece. If you look at the game progress graph, once we finally settled down we played OK, but it was too little too late.

Overall very happy with this season...we always had a reason to watch, even at the low points. Outstanding nonconference record, and then if we don't mysteriously hit zero 3s in the vcu game I think the rest of the season winds up very differently. The Dayton game was outstanding. Stomping Richmond at home was awesome. I can't say I wasn't entertained, or that I didn't enjoy myself. Just wish there was more.

You must have hit the 3 by accident in your first post. Yes, 30% is not great.

Yeah not going to disagree, all my point was is that Polite was considered a shooter. He's terrible on defense and can't move very well and he's undersized. If you can't shoot give me athletic kids who play crazy defense and can run. I would take Jared Billups over Polite every single day for example. With that said they do need more offense point blank.

Pretty much sums up my feelings about this season. The Tony hire and the crew he was able to bring in (players and coaches) helped ease the sting of seeing Josh & company (KE excepted) walk out the door. The fast start was exciting (even though it was the result of beating patsies), and being at the Pat Dome to watch us knock off Dayton and smash Richmond, makes this an overall positive season IMO. Not making it to the quarter finals hurts, but we got the most out of the pieces we had.

Finishing as the top ranked D in the A10 is also no small feat and a feather in coach Skinn's cap. Patriot pressure is real and allows us to start building an identify. Onward and upward!

I hate losing.

I don’t care it’s the wrong thread.

I hate losing.
I do too. I long for us to get back to where we were in March of 2011: “Morrison with the EXCLAMATION POINT… George Mason making a statement we are BACK and READY coming back from a 10 point deficit to win 61-57”. I hate that 2024 marks 13 years since that point.

And that is what people have missed on Billups and why, if Skinn is a Larranaga student ---defense-defense, he has been on the floor.

He generally stops another guy. What he held every player he faced under average except King once?

If he's defending his guy down below their average....then it's like he scored double digits with the differential.
