I didn't catch the whole game but this looked like a textbook case of Big Stage Jitters. Guys were amped and ready to go and if you aren't used to the adrenaline you start missing long, missing short, or just doing bone-headed stuff you'd never do. I'm guessing Tony was probably amped for this game as well and maybe they practiced too hard, or not hard enough. It can be tough...I remember my senior recital I was a ball of anxiety until I was about 2/3 of the way through my first piece. If you look at the game progress graph, once we finally settled down we played OK, but it was too little too late.
Overall very happy with this season...we always had a reason to watch, even at the low points. Outstanding nonconference record, and then if we don't mysteriously hit zero 3s in the vcu game I think the rest of the season winds up very differently. The Dayton game was outstanding. Stomping Richmond at home was awesome. I can't say I wasn't entertained, or that I didn't enjoy myself. Just wish there was more.
