We haven't scored more than 63 points yet, but we also haven't given up more than 68. WVU, meanwhile is averaging 73 points and has yet to give up for than 56 points in its first two games. Even if the Mountaineers hold to form and beat us 73-56, it still makes the under a very solid bet.

Dayton fans appear to travel well. Some 1,000 or so down there in Puerto Rico. Hearing many of them hopped on the team's chartered flight.

I have looked into the future....

We will win, and we will win BIG! Going all the way.

First we will slap WVU around and beat them 74 to 52, while New Mexico beats Boston College and UCONN wins over College of Charleston. Dayton will also beat TAMU.

Then... We are kept barely out of reach with New Mexico most of the game, only to beat them 70 to 69 with 2 quick 3's in the final 17 seconds of the game. UCONN beats Dayton to face us in the final.

We beat UCONN 86 to 84 in overtime, reminding UCONN that no matter how bad we are, we will always embarrass them.

Coming home from Puerto Rico, we will all have a rejuvenated excitement from the team thinking they have finally gelled, only to have them win just 8 more games the rest of the season.

Paul Hewitt is fired.

I will say it is a little comforting to see so many other teams struggling offensively early in the season. St. Joe's was horrible last night (they only scored 10 points in the first half), Dayton only scored 55 points today, and Drexel and Miami aren't lighting up the scoreboard right now either.

I tell myself it will take time for us to gel with so many new faces this year, but my main concern is not the players but the scheme. Also, while scoring is typically down for many teams in the first few games, the one thing that should be a constant from day one is defense. I don't care if we only score 50 points if we only give up 49. That worked for Dayton today, because they only gave up 53 to A & M.

So the team is going opposite of my brain so far this season. As bad as I thought we were and even joked about losing to Cornell, I thought there was no way it happens. Wrong!

Then, after losing to Cornell, I used the ill-fated basketball congruency and though well, if we lost to Cornell, Princeton is better than Cornell, and since they are both ivy's have a similar makeup, so we would definitely lose to Princeton. Wrong again!

So, my brain is 0 for 2. My brain says we get crushed by WVU, so I am going to George Costanza this, do the opposite of what my brain is telling me and predict that we beat WVU.
