well, we lost by less than the 32 points the #5 team in the country (Kansas) lost to the #1 team in the country (Kentucky). so there's that..........

Our team may be terrible, but at least our players have heart.

It's a credit to them that they haven't already mailed it in and quit playing for this gosh darn joke of a coach.

If we played the 1st half as well as we did the 2nd half, this would have been close. I think we should have started off the 1st half with a strong arm throw and a knee collision.

On another note... Where can I buy the Nike green w/ yellow stripe polos worn by guys who were sitting on our bench doing nothing?

The kids played admirably. They just weren't prepared for the defense because I'm not sure they're properly prepared for anything

We were not well coached, but it's not like it's easy to simulate a press like that in practice. You can tell the reserves to press the starters full court, but it's nothing remotely close to like the quickness and athleticism WVU threw at us. Hopefully, this will help us when we play vcu, but I'm not holding my breath.

Isolated example, Tom. But, big picture - how well prepared do we seem over the past few years

Let's hope Ahmad Gilbert doesn't have cable tv or maybe the power in his house went out for 2 1/2 hours. The last thing a good player wants to do is play for a school where all thier talent and efforts will still result in a loss in the majority of the games during the season.

Ha. Players have heart? Please. They looked scared and played with zero intensity. At some point you have to fight back. They never did. They scored in the 2nd half because WVU just sat their main guys.

Embarrassing from top to bottom.

This game proves to me, once again, that Hewitt really doesn't know what real talent looks like and that he is not capable of recruiting on a national level. We were outmatched at every position. I get so tired of hearing what great "athletes" he gets, I'd rather he recruit kids who know the game. On top of recruiting inferior talent he just doesn't have a clue about how to prepare a game plan or execute one. In game adjustments? Not a clue there either. Last night was like watching a high school varsity team play an 8th grade AAU team. It will take us 3 -4 years after dipsh*t is gone to repair the damage that is currently being done.

Seriously. We should have moved past this annoying coaches vs. players being the problem debate.

You dont reach this problem unless it's clearly a combination of both.

Difference now is these are mostly Hewitt's guys, and he must now be held accountable. Freshmen get a pass still, though, you simply cant expect them to domuch yet.

But Hewitt had his chance and brought in the likes of Okoloji and Copes. And guys like Marko who looked promising as a freshman but now have a negligible impact.

More often than not last night, when the whistle blew, there was no 5 second huddle as most college teams do. There is zero leadership, from coaches to players.

This is going to be a long season. I look at these games as an escape from the real world for a few hours for a few months a year.

That wasnt a big time press. We just looked so pathetic trying to break it we made them look that much bettet at it. Btw, Julian Royal? Wtf? He looks like a low level Div 3 player. Or does Hewitt just have a way of making kids looks and play lost? Prob the latter.
