Lost to Queens 85 - 71: https://hubison.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2020-21/queens-n-c-/boxscore/8703
Howard was 4 - 29 overall last year and finished 1 - 15 in conference play. Only 3 of their wins were against D1 opponents. They were literally one of the worst teams in basketball.

Howard lost their leading scorer Charles Williams (18.5 ppg) to graduation. The Bison return 6’6” Wayne Bristol Jr. (12.6 ppg last year) and 6’5” Kyle Foster (9.2 ppg last year). Howard received national recognition by recruiting the number 16 player in the nation in Makur Maker. The 6’11” center was ranked the #4 big man in the country. He averaged 14.7 ppg and 7.4 rpg this summer on the Adidas Grassroots Circuit. He is projected to be an NBA lottery pick in the 2021 draft. He is preseason 1st team MEAC. He had 11 points and 8 rebounds against Belmont. Not much of a difference maker in his college debut.
The Bison averaged 69.9 ppg while giving up 81.3 ppg last year. As a team they shot 42.0% from the field and 34.4% from 3. They allowed opponents to 46.8% shooting and 34.9% from 3. Defense was not a strong area last year. They were out rebounded by more than 7 boards per game during the 19-20 season. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact Maker can make on a program needing help offensively, defensively, and on the glass.
They are picked #3 in preseason MEAC Northern Division polls and 5th overall.
The game is on ESPN3.
My prediction: Battle between a real bad defensive team (90ppg) against a really inept offensive team. GMU squeaks out a 70 - 69 win.
