I looked at that thread, and I seriously doubt the university is all that serious about a move down to D3.
The D3 part no way. But an option was to go MAAC or something of that nature. Wouldn't totally shock me if they went that route. The facilities seem to be in such a disastrous state that moving down would make more sense than making the investment.

Only making the tournament once in 20 years in a conference where the tourney teams keep 75% of the prize money is not a recipe for being able to invest in an athletic department.

I like us to lose this game but sure like the direction we're headed.

Don't have to do a ton now to meet my definition of "significantly improved" by the end of the season.

Some of us should go up there and hit on college girls and stuff again.

We are going up..... you should come. Bring the miller lite keg tube thingy

American left CAA for the Patriot
Ga St left CAA for Slum Belt

GSU left for football, though. So, they were moving up in the sport they really cared about.

In 2001, would moving to the Patriot be considered a big step down or more of a lateral move? I mean, Navy obviously also left the CAA to go to the Patriot as well. There's a huge difference in conference RPI right now, but I'm not sure what it was like 17 years ago.

I don't live too far from LaSalle but my son's rec league tourney is the same time Saturday. I'm glad he's playing ball but it's had a real impact on my ability to see live Mason games this year!

Moving from the CAA to the Patriot League has always been a big step down. AU didn't...and still doesn't...have the facilities or the money to compete at a level higher than the Patriot. It was a smart move.

Don't forget, we are also a buzzer beater 3 vs St Joes and an OT win vs UMass away from being tied for last in the conference. We lost some heart breakers that we probably should have won, but we also stole a few too that could of easily been losses. We are what our record says we are - 6-7.

Excellent post. You know how "fans" are though, they don't usually remember the ones they stole! Only the ones that got away!

Am I missing something here. That's a huge spread for a doodoo team.

I'm surprised. I guess Vegas sees us as a poor road performing team, and our lack of depth and big men makes us look like a poor matchup. But I think Calixte and even AJ, who still has major defensive deficiencies, are much improved over the last few weeks. If Grayer is healthy, he rebounds like a big. Greene rebounds much better than his size. The question is whether we see the defense we saw most of the season or the defense we saw the last four games (minus the 10 minute lapse against Fordham).

I don't understand that line at all. Their only win in the last five games is by 3 points over St. Joe's at home. I expected something in the 2 point range since they're at home.

I'm surprised a bit as well. Kenpom has LaSalle's home court advantage 31st in the country at 3.9 pts. (Mason's is around 260-something). They defend the 2 well (best in the conference) but not the 3, and commit few turnovers. Nothing else jumps out at me.
