Well this puts the top 2 teams in the driver seat. Why can't we have a Mason game on a Saturday. I'd do the Amtrak to see it.

Depth was Mason's greatest strength, even minus Grayer. Now we're woefully shorthanded.

Out for Season – Grayer, Mar
Out Temporarily – Calixte
Walking Wounded – Boyd, Kier (seems like it)
Newly Injured – Greene

Jesus, we need a week off!

Otis also was hobbling. He played but he was hobbling.

Great... who's left to carry the team when we're down?

Reuter? – inconsistent, lacks athleticism, needs to lose 15 pounds
AJ? – seems so lost and hasn't been the same since he broke his nose
Miller? – pleasant surprise, but needs experience and strength
Hartwell & JDS? – maybe in a season or two

Each one of the above players is what made us a strong team for the first nine games of A10 play. As a team, when we play as a solid team, there's a synergy that develops and carries us. But, now that these players are asked to step up big due to the rigors of a long season, they're just not handling the pressure well. We're missing too many parts and other parts are wearing thin. That synergy can't materialize without all the parts.

Come on team, hold it together. Spinach for everyone!

I wish Vaughn Gray was still at G Mas. This wouldn’t have happened.

Mercifully so, Stadium Network crapped out on me at the half. It never resolved even after multiple reboots and changes of devices, etc.. From the sound of it, I'm glad that I didn't grind my teeth into tiny stumps during the second half—I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on having prime rib for dinner tonight.

Reminded me a lot of a road vcu game...get way behind, claw back to within hope range, lose steam, and get our doors blown off in the last 3:00 minutes.

Just glad when given the choice between travelling to this game and next week's homecoming game, the homecoming game won out. Very glad my St. Bonaventure grad friend reported to me that he is busy on Monday and "the Bonnies aren't very good."

Didn't necessarily expect a win, but the way in which Mason was pounded is very concerning. Certainly looks like the Bonnies are getting better and Mason is regressing.

Is Greene hurt too now? I saw some reference to that.

Sorry guys, I forgot to warn you that the Caps looked very good in their last game, so that didn’t bode well for Mason...

It seemed as if our winning early in conference might be fragile given how our OOC went. Seems like the piling up of injuries has really taken its toll.

The trend on 3-point defense is not good. We’ve given up at least 10 3s in each of the last 5 games, at some pretty high percentages (11-19 today). We aren’t going to win too many games letting teams shoot that efficiently from 3.

I’m curious how many of them are “tough contested shots” and how many of them are leaving them open. I can’t help but think a few of the games were just luck of the draw even with hands up and closing out.

We give up a lot of open looks. UMass kept running the same play over and over again, giving Holloway the ball on the left elbow— wait for the double, feed it back out for an open three.

Matt, the eye test alone tells you we give up a ton of uncontested threes, and the statistics bear that out. After today's horrendous perimeter defense (they shot a mind-boggling 58% from 3), we are now allowing our opponents to shoot 35% from behind the arc.

That could drop us into the bottom four in the A10 in 3-point defense, which should dispel any notion that teams are merely hitting contested shots against us. Dave is too good of a coach to not make adjustments, so my hunch/hope is that contesting 3s becomes more of a focal point moving forward.

I definitely think the last two games have been underwhelming defending the three, and you’re right the stats don’t lie. Today was particularly bad, probably even worse than the Umass game.

Was more like the Richmond game IMHO. We came back and tied vcu twice in the second half — against Richmond and Bona we made runs but couldn’t quite get over the hump.
