Game 25: HOMECOMING against St. Bonaventure, Feb 15th, 6 PM, MASN

Just stumbled onto this site....not sure how I've missed it for all these years. c/o '98 GMU and yes, that means I suffered through 3 years of Westhead and then 1 year of Coach L trying to put the pieces back together before he built "his" team. I attended about 20 games in the Westhead era (almost all of which were losses, as I recall), and must say that this season has been as frustrating as any I recall (at least watching Westhead teams scoring 95 while giving up 100 was exciting). This game is a microcosm of every Hewitt game I've watched to date (which is most of them): pretty good play out of the gate, but then once the other team defense adjusts (changes from man to zone or zone to man, or 2-3 to 1-2-2, etc), it seems that Hewitt has no game plan to get our players to adjust to the new defense, and nobody on the team seems to be able to create scoring opportunities against man-to-man.

Anyhow, figured I'd drop in on homecoming 15 years after my graduation and see what the fans/experts here think about what's going on with this team and Hewitt's coaching....which I'm sure is talked about in other threads which I'll check out next

I'll have to try to find some Red Dog, Icehouse, and Rolling Rock, which was drunk in excess after losses during the Westhead era in Fairfax. Maybe the nostalgia of drinking that stuff will make me feel less disappointed in the current coach/team.

Because we can't play defense. It's really that simple. People complain about our offense all the time here, but really it's the defense that's just killing us in most of these games -- and that includes the utter excessive fouling we do game after game.
