Ive heard that situation is debatable amongst coaches. I know Larranaga is one to let them take a three since, technically, its a lower percentage. But we opted to let them earn it harder this time, and they still came through. Kind of felt Hewitt was like, lets try something different, why not? Well see how the OT goes.

I know. My theory has always been...make them do more, play another possession, play more defense, rebound, etc......even though a miracle 3 is a low percentage.

Today was a sad reminder of where we are. That's the smallest hc crowd I've seen, the players body language for majority of the game was defeated, the offense was as putrid as it could be, and to top it off some terrible refs.

A win is a win, but this game was excruciating to sit through.

the coaches having to pick up confetti right before the tip was comical

I'm all for fouling when up 3, but not with 10 seconds to go.

The announced attendance today was less than the announced attendance for the vcu game and that was a Wed night.

I will give some leeway since I talked to a lot of older alumni that decided to do Valentines instead, but I can't remember a worse HC crowd. They were loud when it mattered though.
As dumb as Hewitt was for not going 2 for 1 at the end of regulation with 52 seconds, Mooney was even dumber for not doing the same in OT. I mean Anthony was just jacking anyway...why not let him get a quick shot?
Good game but we were still ultra lucky with all the open threes we allowed. Although I was pleased that we adapted at least a little feeding Jenkins down low when they doubled Thompson and then took away Holloway after his early threes. Jackson had a wide open three in the corner any time he wanted it as well.
So glad we at least got the win. Helps with the program at least to the casual fan.

Who was the last team we beat at Homecoming other than UR?

That was the worst HC crowd I have ever seen as well. Need to get more students in seats. On our way over to the Pat Dome we must of saw at least 20 students walking away from the Patdome.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but Corey Edwards was brilliant in pretending like he was going to foul in OT like he had done in regulation so the UR player throws up a shot thinking he was going to get fouled. I don't know if that was all on Corey or the coaches instructed him to do that, but nicely done.

Before this, I believe it was vcu in 2011-2012 (that would be Sherrod's famous buzzer-beater).

If that wasn't homecoming, we won all of our home games in February that year ( ODU, Hofstra and vcu). So it was one of those.
