Mason has not beaten a team ahead of them in the standings. The 3 teams directly ahead, vcu, UMASS and st joes are 3 losses by a combined 7 points.

If there’s any staff that can figure out how to eventually turn the tide for this program, it has to be Tony. And remember, for a few years, Mason was winning close game after close game with st joes and UMASS. Somehow we lost both this go round.

That said, another opportunity awaits Wednesday against Loy Chi. Time to hold serve at home and build on the positive things we saw today (defense), and correct the negative items (rebounding).

Also for anyone who will go Wednesday I hope the crowd cheers extra loud for Keyshawn. He deserves our support and hopefully it can be like a Trea Turner moment.
TT, smoothest slide home in the 150 year history of baseball. Google it.

I will refrain from blasting you. I'll just say this, Dinkins is hurt and he isn't playing this year. Haynes can't play, plan was never for him to play. If you must know why, dig deep and you'll find the answer. Nico leaving really hurt the depth at 5. Hayes will play next year but they have to recruit another big man. Free agency doesn't start till the summer so right now it doesn't mean much.
If the Haynes mystery is so deep then why don't you find a shallow way to tell us? Unless it's an absolute embarrassment to Haynes or the team then spill it

**********

I want to see more bench minutes. Mental and physical fatigue are what caused Hall's mistake vs. UMass. Kelly fouling out was at least an indirect result of him knowing that there was little backup for him. Woody played hard and tough vs. UMass. He earned more minutes, but not as a substitute to Kelly. I'm not going to run the numbers, but it seems to me that Mason is more effective when Ball and Wood see more than gratuitous minutes.

I’m not sure what’s going on with Malik, but since playing 14 minutes against Richmond he barely has seen the floor.

Twice this team has generated an open look to win a game and twice the player who took that shot was not Maddox and both times the player who took it missed it.

Malik Henry and Tre Wood were both unavailable yesterday. Malik's hip and Tre's back were the issues. Tre also missed the St Joes game with the same issue.

We really needed Malik yesterday but I thought Newton really stepped up for a great game on both sides of the ball. We haven't seen that out of him lately.

Hopefully both of them can come back for Loy Chi and provide a few minutes.

Both shots were open looks—but I can live with that. It's vastly more frustrating when the team doesn't even get a shot up. I recall John Vaughn having numerous last possession chances only to dribble the ball off his foot... ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!

Bialkoski was an asst coach at ETSU last season and came here in a non coaching role. Any player transferring in from ETSU has to sit a year. Mason asked the NCAA if that applied also to the 2 time transfer waiver but got no answer.

13.8.3.2 Individual Associated with a Prospective Student-Athlete -- Men's Basketball. In men's basketball, during a two-year period before a prospective student-athlete's anticipated enrollment and a two-year period after the prospective student-athlete's actual enrollment, an institution shall not employ (or enter into a contract for future employment with) an individual associated with the prospective student-athlete in any athletics department noncoaching staff position or in a strength and conditioning staff position.

So I believe the same rule applies to Lamar and PVI players.

Is the rule overridden by a head coaching change? Had honestly never heard of this until today.

Two year period? Would that mean he has to sit next year as well?

Getting back to the Loyola game:

As pissed as we all were yesterday, I sure hope Keyshawn gets a standing ovation or something similar during introductions on Wednesday. We need to show him our support right now and we need him to stick around Fairfax for the next few years.

Maybe everyone jingles their keys for Key or something… do people still have keys in 2024?

Key has at least two ways to go with this. He could go into a shell and be afraid to do anything; or, hopefully, he goes into full beast mode and really becomes a terror for other teams to deal with. "Laugh at me, will you? Watch this, losers!!"

Loyola with a fairly comfortable win at home over Davidson 76-63. 14-28 from 3 and 21 assists on 24 made baskets (9th in the country in Assist % for the year, according to Kenpom).

I’m thinking beast mode.

I used to go to games at the original Durham Athletic Park where the word Bullpen was coined because of the Bull Durham Tobacco sign on the outfield fence, and where the movie was filmed.
The manager was "Dirty" Al Gallagher.

They used to have fans shake their keys at Frederick Keys games. Even had a jingle to go with it...

"We're the Frederick Keys, come on support your team..."
