Won't Davidson be playing on Wednesday, too, as it is their first year in the A10? I am told by reputable sources that it takes teams several years to acclimate to the competition in the A10
I appreciate the humor, but for discussion purposes since this is a game thread can we not pretend like this year's A10 is anything close to last year's when six teams went to the NCAAT? vcu, Dayton, GW and Rhode Island are doing well this year, but the best shot we have at two bids this year is if vcu craps the best in Brooklyn.
Just to very clear, I'm not comparing Davidson's program to ours (they're better) or excusing how badly we played last year (we sucked). Davidson has been a very good addition to the league and will beat us soundly tonight. I just think they are vastly overrated, and I think their #125 RPI confirms that.
Seriously, how many great wins did they have in the OOC portion of schedule when they compiled their gaudy 8-2 record? I'll give you a hint: The only team they beat that now has a winning record is UNCW, which was also the highest RPI team they beat at #154. (Three of the wins were against teams in the 300s.)
Granted, they've held their own at home in A10 play — the win against Dayton was impressive — and have a good win at UMass on the road, but I think all of the talk about how great they are is way overblown.
