No inside info on this, but have to believe Ginika/Malik in some order will be our rotation at the 5 next season. Given the scarcity of big men, it would definitely suck to have to replace Josh and Ginika in the same offseason.Ouch. If all 3 leave, our front court/rebounding situation will be a mess -- subject of course to who the coach can get to fill their slots.
I'm sure this has been discussed before but I forget the answer -- if they choose to do so, could Oduro and Ticket play another year at Mason? And how many years of eligibility does Ojiako have left?
Now do all the DP misses over the course of 6 years who couldn’t play mid major ball when they transferred, or for some even D1 ball. Where does Jared Reuter play professionally I can’t remember? Not trying to nitpick, but just some food for thought. Of course DP was with Mason 6 years, and KE on his third, only second draft class.
D. Paulson in retrospect did pretty darn good when it came to recruiting (see below). Too bad we lost Kolek and Miller. But Oduro was a home run. So far, and KE is only in his 2nd year recruiting, it's too early to tell, but Dinkins and Fernandez look promising. E Naji is a question mark, but B Jones and Peter Oduro, well maybe not. KE does get good marks for transfer players, especially Schwartz ,T. Gaines, D.Cooper and V Bailey. Let's hope his next draft class, and on paper they look very good, we can develop some stars. So it appears to me KE is off to an OK start, but next years class need to be very good. Most importantly he needs a real good big man to replace Oduro thru the transfer portal. Let's hope it all works out.
DP recruits
J. Oduro
J. Miller
T.Kolek
M. Henry
R. Polite
X. Johnson
AJ. Wilson
J. Green
I think you missed the point. He will not have the network he had while at UT/Colo....sure he might know kids that didn't pick Mason. However, specifically guys like Ticket who he called and said "let's go"...that well is drying up. As the portal has emerged, those real relationships I feel are a bit more shallow.I've seen this take flying around a lot and I think it's really overdone. For every recruit they land they develop relationships with a dozen more that will go elsewhere. Sure these aren't guys that he will have coached like the others, but of all the problems we have, recruiting pipeline ain't one
However, if we keep Miller we probably don't get Gaines.
No disagreement from me on that. I’m sure he was re recruited but Jordan like Tyler was ready for a new opportunity. All due respect to Ticket, but Miller is the better all-around player.
Not muchFWIW
From the Game Notes for Sunday:
"Polite III is day-to-day with a lower leg injury. He is averaging 13.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists in A-10 play. He's a team-best +115 when on the floor this season, more than 50 points better than any other Mason player. "
St. Joe's has won 3 of the last 4 (OT loss at GW earlier this week or they would be riding a 4 game win streak). Can't take this one for granted.
I think the announcers near the beginning of the vcu game, said the target for his return was against Loyola next week. When is Ticket coming back?
St. Joe's has looked like the better team all game. Don't like Dinkins and Polite in the game at the same time right now.Um, if we lose to St. Joe's, it's time to punt the season and play all of the young guys a ton. Season is officially lost.
