Disappointed we lost and with how we lost. It took some heroics on their part to get it, even with us not playing well or at full strength.
They challenged our guards more than any other team, that’s just good game planning. It got in our heads and messed us up early.
Kier tried too hard this game, you could tell and it showed. Seemed like earlier in the season when we were trying to play up to expectations.
Love Otis, but have come to terms with what his play is this year. Probably best and most under the radar comment of the night:“Exacerbating matters was the absence of freshman guard Jamal Hartwell II, who suffered a sprained knee in practice Friday. Hartwell has three turnovers in 171 minutes this season.”
To me Otis still doesn’t seem right (possible nagging injury?), and I don’t think the Otis of last year is coming back. Time to acknowledge that, take what we get and move on, or at least stop bitching about it.
Javon is our X factor for the offense and didn’t have it tonight. Would love to see some consistency on offense to go with his D.
Great game for our “bigs” Calixte, Reuter, Miller. However, some of that is due to vcu strategy. And having poo pooed on Reuter I will say that he was impressive tonight. Used his body well and made great shots. Also, don’t think he got stuffed! If he plays like that in practice all the time I could see the rationale for the all A10 comments.
Our bench was short and unproductive beside Calixte. Need something from Boyd and JDS, particularly when we are short handed and grinding against vcu.
If I thought EBA was an imposing environment that we dominate I’d say I’m pretty confident we get them back at home. But it’s not and there is a risk of getting swept if we don’t adjust.
Either way, we can’t lose against the “cupcakes” if we want a top 4. Hopefully we can pull together another 7-2 stretch.
Interested to see how they respond at Richmond.
