Game 20: Duquesne University, Saturday, January 23rd, 4 PM, NO TV

That's great that both teams will be there, but refs come in the day of the game and the people to run the Patriot Center, support crew, etc. Asking them to come in during a blizzard where you are told to stay off the road. And I am sure Duquesne really wants to spend two extra days in Fairfax. And playing in front of 200 people. One open concession stand just to get a game in. Not sure it is the best idea.
They did it last year during a snow storm

I've been in person to many "snow" games over the years and indeed haven't missed any home games when I haven't been hospitalized. However, if they play this one on Saturday, I don't plan on making it. I simply do not think that roads will be drive-able and 5 miles is too far to walk in a blizzard.

Even if Duquesne is in town, will they be able to get to the Patriot Center? No more Mason Inn where they could walk over. I wonder if moving the game to Sunday is a possibility?

I was hoping at least this would be a tv game, but I guess this is just an A10 stream--is that right? Maybe we can get Fordham to come down and give us a free stream--would be worth putting up with another discussion of "real" numbers!

I live 2.5 miles from Campus and have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, but looking at the forecast, I'm not even sure it will be possible to make it there.

I'm guessing if Duquesne hadn't played in Richmond its last game, the game on Saturday wouldn't happen. I'm hoping they'll allow fans to exchange Duquesne tickets for a future date.

Was just running some errands and listening to WMAL in the car...Mason is advertising hoops tickets and urging people to call to buy for Saturday's game. I'm sure the phone is ringing off the hook over there at the field house.

SCHEDULE CHANGE

The George Mason men’s basketball game originally scheduled for Saturday against Duquesne has been moved up to Friday afternoon due to the impending snow storm “Jonas” that is scheduled to hit the greater Washington area this weekend. The Atlantic 10 conference game against the Dukes will be played at the RAC on the Fairfax campus with a 2 p.m. tip. The Patriots home court EagleBank arena is not a viable option for Friday afternoon due to an event earlier in the day.

Attendance to Friday’s game will be limited to Mason students with a valid Mason student ID; men’s basketball season ticket holders and those who have already purchased single-game tickets for this game. Friday’s rescheduled game is sold out and tickets will not be available at the door. All seating will be general admission on a first-come, first-served basis. Current ticket holders who are unable to attend the rescheduled game may exchange their ticket at the EagleBank Arena box office for a future 2015-16 home game, based on availability.

Well I guess that settles that.

2pm, eh? Perfect. The snow should be starting around 4pm, right as fans try to go home.

Ugh.

The Duquesne team was practicing in the RAC late this afternoon, before the announcement. The RAC had not yet been set up for the game.

Actually if it doesn't start until 4, I live close enough that it shouldn't be that big a deal. But I do hope the snow doesn't start earlier.

rpiforecast: essentially a pick'em game; we're .3 pt favorites. According to that site, there are only 2 other games that we're favorites (St. Louis and LaSalle).

Playing in the RAC may be a good thing for this team. It'll be louder than EagleBank. (for this particular game anyway) Hopefully most members of the Green Machine are able to make it.

Given what Goff's article said about the short amount of time to prepare with Mason's mid-day arrival today, it sounds like Duquesne may have some advantage.

I can understand people not going for work, the time, no hospitality room, have to watch the kids, whatever.

But not going because of the snow means you are an utter pussy. The two feet aren't expected to come till later. I'll go to the game and hit Brion's after.

Snowflake would turn over in his grave if he were still on this forum. It's called "winter" you cock-loving salsa-dancing fair weather fags.
