Someone may have posted this already, but what was with the Penn players and coaching staff (with the exception of a couple of guys) sitting during the National Anthem? After that, I hated them before the game even started. Glad we kicked their butts.

I think they were related to "the Squad."

This is the most fun I’ve had at Mason basketball games since being a freshman in 2010-2011. I love this team. I love what Kim English is doing here. We’ve got something special brewing.

And gold room beers at your seat is a GAME CHANGER. Do yourselves a favor, double first out the door and head out 10 mins early to your seats. It’s worth it. I had a blast tonight. I’ll do some actual basketball thoughts later, but we are in a great spot.

The real test comes in college park next week, which after watching that GW game, feels like a super winnable matchup in our first real test of the year.

Yes. Awesome to finally have a great time at games again! Even when Penn would cut it to like 14, one of our multiple double-figure scorers would hit a bucket and silence the run. Refreshing. Let's go!!!

I continue to love what I see. Guys are challenging shots, hitting the boards and making plays on offense. Offense has spacing and flow. There no longer is slow motion and letting the opponent recover. Mason finally has shooters and guys who can compliment Oduro’s ability.

I absolutely love XJ in the open floor and getting downhill to the rim. Having him healthy finally is a major major asset.

one thing on defense i noticed tonight is how quick the guys are going under and through screens. I didn’t see as much switching tonight either.

Been shooting Mason hoops for almost ten years and this is what I've waited to see. This photo I would usually pass over and not edit but what caught my attention is the folks standing and yelling. Look at the gentleman on the left in the Mason shirt. Passion. No one looking at phones.

Now they need to fill in the non student sections. A win over Morgan State takes us to Maryland next Wednesday. Win there and people will get their butts out to EBA.

Two hustle plays that stood out:

1) Malik Henry sprinting back and intercepting the long pass when Penn thought they had a home run.

2) XJ sprinting back after missing the layup and poking the ball from behind to get the TO instead of giving up a drive going the other way.

After last night, I’m comfortable saying PG isn’t a question mark at all. XJ is our dude, he’s back. He could get to any spot on the floor he wanted to last night. Defensively he was all over #3 in the first half.

Like KE said postgane, there is no garbage time, they watch film start to finish and you gotta make the most of the minutes you get. Love it!

Remember when we made every excuse under the sun for Paulsen! Granted this is only two games, and transfer rules are different, but this looks like a good quality team in year 1!

Remember when we got hyped the first time we saw paulsen run actual plays tho after Hewitt? This is so much better mwahhahaha.
