I have no judgement on any individual player who has shown sustained success in the past. Otis did not forget how to play basketball (he also set a personal best for assists tonight). Grayer and Mar did not forget how to score. There is every reason to believe they will right the ship.

This was a team loss. So was the last one. So was the struggle against Hopkins. The team ain't right and not one of us can pretend to have any clue why. Let's hope the people in charge know and have an idea how to fix it. I have guesses, but they're just that.

Back to back home losses to teams from low major conferences means no OOC resume without some huge wins. However, the fact they were the first two games of the season means they are easy to forget if we get on track.

Offense needs to start from their defense. They aren't getting stops like they should. They all look complacent on the defensive side of the ball unless they have to get a stop (the end of regulation, for instance).

Something is up, and at least one of these first two games was probably "must win," so this isn't "f**k with the lineup" time. Maybe first half, but if you're not in the midst of a blowout, you play to win NOW, not in December.

If you are correct that the lineup changes are affecting the offensive flow, I still have questions about the defense.

OK to panic now? Problem is, GMU wasn’t picked to do well this year because of superstars who could dominate. GMU was just supposed to be a solid veteran team.

The team looks to be a mess and I see no way they beat Georgia Southern. What a disasater.

Yeah, I was saying the same thing... Where is the defensive intensity BEFORE those must-stop situations? Paulsen knows how to coach defense and we have the depth now to make no excuses for playing lazy for stretches.

Also, if Greene could finish layups we would be 2-0.

I'm really starting to think DP cannot recruit at the A10 level. We do not have an A10 big on the team.

I doubt American wins 12 games this year.

All we can hope for now is the team to find itself in time for conference play. We will at best finish 6-7 in the OOC.

Still will watch and root our guys on but ot expecting anything other than a participation trophy for our guys.

This is just a disaster. Best way to deal with it at the moment is to just wait for conference play. The OOC means nothing anymore.

The crazy thing is this team looks like the old Hewitt teams. They can only score with lay ups, stupid turn overs and no defense. I mean Grayer passed the ball to Paulsen!! How could we be building for so long just to go back to the beginning.......

I can get behind Kier, Greene, Boyd, and AJ, but you’re saying that Hartwell should start over Otis, and that makes your argument ridiculous.

Side note: I don’t think AJ should ever leave the floor, and should 100% start over Mar right now.

I think it impact defense too. To be honest that is where we should focus. It’s not like we don’t have players with talent - we need them coordinated and that is on the coaching staff to address.

I debated if I should say Otis or not. Im kind of half joking. Obviously Otis should start but he’s not playing like himself at the moment.

I think he is used to dribbling into the paint and either scoring or passing it out. But he doesn’t dribble into the paint when Reutter plays.
