Another one of those "need to wins." If we can get 2 wins each off the Bonnies and GW, and take care of business against Fordham and La Salle, we're up to seven wins. Take 1 each off UMass and Richmond is 9. Assume we pick up a random against a URI/Duquense type team and we're at 10. Should be on the bubble for top four. It'll be interesting to see if GW/Fordham/La Salle can take any wins off anyone but themselves. If not the win total for top four will need to be much higher than previous years.
Well La Salle just beat UMass. Hopefully the middle of the league just beats itself up and we can get top four with ~10 wins

The Bonnies are, according to Kenpom, in the middle of the pack in defending the 3 (pretty much the same as us in that regard) but a whole lot better than St. Joe's. So a repeat of the 3 pt barrage is especially unlikely.

Their big guy, Osunniyi, is 4th in the country in block %, so that may limit inside scoring as well. Perhaps more pull-up jumpers? They are also top 50 in creating turnovers.

On the other hand, on offense they are much weaker than St. Joe's, turning it over themselves (#282) and shooting poorly on 2 pt shots (#233).

Kenpom: Mason by 6
Sagarin: Mason by 5.2

Only A-10 team that Mason hasn't beaten since joining the league are the Bonnies. I'd be disappointed if GMU loses this one, as they are the more experienced team this year. I'll say GMU 74 Bonnies 68.

I think we take one step back after taking 4 steps forward at St. Joes. Bonnie’s: 69 Mason 62. Not sold on the consistency of this team yet, and I think the Bonnie’s D is going to give us fits. Don’t love our matchups down low unless Paulsen gives AJ a lot more of Reuter’s minutes in this one.

This might sound negative but it’s very accurate. Consistency is what has eluded us this year and it’s hard to feel confident about this team unless some consistent good play is displayed.

and his point about down low. Osunnyi who chose Bonnies over Syracuse last min is an absolute athletic beast for a freshman... This is absolutely an Greg and AJ type of game.. hopefully mins are handed out accordingly but I will hold my breath

I gotta say our defense has been more consistent lately. If our shooting can get there too, then we are a totally different team.

Kinda weird how we started to turn corner about same time Grayer left us hanging.

Kier finding his stroke has made a big difference. Hopefully as teams start to have to move out to guard him it opens some stuff up. He was fire against SJU but that’s also a product of them sagging way off and letting him get his very slow shot off.

Well if we are being honest the Bonnies have not been that consistent either. Watched a few of their previous games on ESPN+ and wasn't overly impressed.

I think our consistency has been improving and that game against K-State is going to pay dividends in this game.

What I noticed last game and I think is the key to our team being very good in conference is Goanar’s play. He was WAY more aggressive in the game against St Joe’s. It wasn’t so much getting his shot as it was on defense and battling for rebounds. He really mixed it up underneath. When he is aggressive and playing like he’s the most talented guy on the floor, we are a totally different team.

Vienna Inn in the Gold Room today... please do not eat too much of the chili or you will be in the bathroom rather than the stands trying to watch this game. Mason by 7

Defending Stockard at the 3 is the whole game. He is the heart of this team.

I’m often guilty of being too down after losses and being too up after wins, but I think we’ve played pretty well over the last 3 games (minus the last 5 minutes of the first half against K-State). I’m trying not to get my hopes up, so I’ll say we come back down to earth a bit, but still get the win. Mason wins 68-66.

Would love to see Reuter go off and restore confidence in the fan base. Safe to say he won’t be the guy we thought he might be after DP’s comments, but I still think he can take over games and be a key to this team - even if it’s by drawing double teams and finding the open man to hit threes.

Let's frustrate him the say way we frustrated Charlie Brown.

One thing our best teams would always do is force the opposing teams' best player to do is take a lot of shots (and a lot of difficult shots) to get their points. We need to get that tradition back. It starts with Kier, Greene, and Mar on the defensive side of the ball.

We could really use his bulk down low today to seal off a lane for our guards. Also, if his mid-range game is working, he'll pull Osun out of the paint and provide space under the basket (this is something neither AJ nor Calixte can do, although Calixte seems to be better at the post screen than Reuter is strangely enough).
