St. Joe’s best player and preseason A10 second team Ryan Daly (17.2 ppg & 6.2 reb) has been gone since the fifth game of the year. Their starting lineup has been in flux all year. 6’8” Taylor Funk (16.1 ppg & 5.6 reb), and 6’5” Jack Forest (10.0 ppg) are the current statistical leaders although Cameron Brown (8.7 ppg) has played well lately. Jordan Hall (7.6 ppg), Dahmir Bishop (8.6 ppg), and Douglas Myles (5.6 ppg) are among others who have started lately.
St. Joe’s averages 70.5 points per game while giving up 85.3. The Hawks shoot 40.7% from the floor and 28.8% from 3. Opponents are shooting 47.0% from the field and 38.1% from 3. The Hawks shoot 70.9% from the free throw line. They have been out rebounded opponents by an astounding 10.4 boards per game.
The game is on ESPN+.
My prediction: St. Joe’s was picked 12th in preseason polls ahead of only LaSalle and Fordham. The Hawks were not much to fear with Daly, without him they are that much worse. They don’t shoot, rebound, or defend well. Seven of their losses are by double digits and the average losing margin of almost 15 points per game is among the worst in the nation. If we can’t beat St. Joe's we should be relegated to DIII.
