I would rather give up 30 points to their big and cover up the shooters than to do what we did in the last game.

Looks like my brilliant defensive strategy worked (Davis with 21, but the rest of the team 4-17 from 3)!

By the way, we looked so much better defensively when AJ or Calixte is playing the 5 and Mar is playing the 4 (even if all three of them almost fouled out in this game). My hope is we see more and more of that as the season goes on.

Ditto AJ and Greg at 5 with Mar at 4. Great move by Javon to attack the rim. AJ needs to bring it vs higher level teams bc he is exciting to watch. Good win and much needed. Long a** way to go for this team but it can be done.

Got tickets at the last minute for cheap. Glad I went. My take away from the game? Paulsen is the greatest coach of all time! We should induct him into the hall of fame ASAP. Lifetime extension. He sure knows how to recruit and game plan. This game made his career.

I think you've just over-egged your pudding, my friend.

GIVING DAY 2023
Ten games into his college career, Calixte already can do something none of our transferred bigs could: set a solid screen, roll to the basket, catch a bounce pass and finish strong off the glass.

Like most young bigs, he and AJ foul too much, but they rebound aggressively, block shots and are actually pretty nifty around the basket. Not bad for freshmen.

So looking forward to Reuter becoming eligible and being able to slide AJ down to the 4 with Go. It will make us a far more complete team and allow all of our guys to play to their strengths.

Not fun when people overreact to one game, is it? Just trying to get DJ3’s goat a bit and have a bit of fun. If you don’t enjoy the wins as much as you hate the losses, then why even watch?

Oh, I was picking up what you were putting down. Thought I'd throw a little British soccer argy-bargy your way.

The idiots are back! Check out our latest postgame video featuring Justin Kier- http://giantkiller.co/2017/12/09/video-george-mason-defeats-north-carolina-central/

P.S. People claiming it’s too early to criticize Paulsen but then criticize young players like Kier confuse me. He’s probably a 4 year starter and a 3 year captain who can handle the ball as a PG, beat his man both on and off ball and is active on D (he’s always willing to hit the floor). He’s admitted that his shot needs to improve and his release has to get faster. DP has raved about him since he joined the green and gold. Watch the video to see his apology for his poor play in the previous 2 games. (The apology wasn’t necessary but the kid is a leader)

Not worried about Kier. He'll be fine. But I can see that his confidence has been shaken over the last two weeks. He passed on a lot of open 3's yesterday. Yes - his release is slow, but when he has the space that they gave him yesterday, I'd like to see him let it fly.

Massive change for Kier and Boyd going from bonus contributors as freshmen to guys who we need to bring it every game to win.

They’re going to have bad games like everybody. They’re sophomores and they’re human, not robots.

We just need them to keep attacking and playing with confidence even when things aren’t going well. That isn’t easy, but this team can’t afford for them to go into a shell and pass up open shots.

He's always been a little shy shooting the 3. In yesterday's game, he took a wide-open one early and missed badly. Couldn't have done anything positive for his confidence, at least in shooting 3's.

The entire team shot badly in the first half from 3. I was upset at him at the time for passing up one obviously wide open look about midway through the first half and then thought it was actually a pretty smart move to pass it up in favor of trying to get something closer to the basket.

By the way, was just thinking about "the sky is falling" thinking as it relates to Paulsen's coaching ability. It was pretty obvious from the game plan and execution that Paulsen understood what went wrong in the second half of the W&M game and spent practice time correcting the mistakes to make sure it didn't happen a second time against a similar team.
