Exactly. We did this very little last year. Two man trap the ball handler a third sits back waiting for the steal. A number of games we would trap without a third player making an attempt at the steal.Couple positives and negatives that may not have been mentioned:
We pressed and trapped trying to force turnovers, not just to control the tempo. Pretty sure a lot of people complained about this last year.
Pat at point is something many of us would like to see and have speculated about...all of us except for PH, that is.

Did anyone ever get a response from Patriot Vision on why were not able to view this game? I got this lame response:
http://articles.washingtonpost.com/..._1_paul-hewitt-sherrod-wright-marko-gujanicicPoint guard remains a concern for Hewitt, who started sophomore Corey Edwards for the first time this season in place of junior Bryon Allen. They ended up splitting time, and neither stood out. “We have got to improve that position,” Hewitt said. “We’ve just got to get better. All options are available.” Hewitt suggested using Vertrail Vaughns, a junior shooting guard, to run the offense on occasion.
If Edwards is essentially just going to bring the ball up and is not penetrating and creating (which he hasn't been since early last year), you may as well have another guard in there who is either better defensively or a better scorer.
None of us are is privy to what goes on in practice, so you have no idea what the coaches have tried. I'm pretty confident that Patrick would be getting some run at the point if he showed any ability to handle the ball at the DI level. What exactly have you seen that indicates to you that he can do that?
My guess is that we see Allen at the point a lot more if Edwards doesn't figure some things out, but I wouldn't be so quick to assume that it means Holloway would start at the 2. For those paying attention Friday night, Gray was the first guard off the bench, not Holloway. I thought that was very telling.
Dan, we're in complete agreement that all options should be explored. I just don't see Patrick as the solution, especially against teams who like to press and trap. Plus, he's much more lethal coming playing off the ball. For better or worse, it looks like Allen might be our best option, which is fine by me. That opens more minutes on the wing for Patrick and Gray.
I think that is the way it likely plays out (BA at PG) and probably should play out, contrary to what Hewitt has said (many times) about wanting to keep BA off the ball. Not quite sure what to make of those comments when he went away from it in the first half of the first game of the season.Dan, we're in complete agreement that all options should be explored. I dont know if we are making an OOC thread, but American escaped with a win over UMBC in OT last night
AU won't be a great team this year, but Brennan will make them into a perennial contender in the Patriot League. He's been an assistant at AU, Princeton and Georgetown, so there's no question the guy knows how to coach.
They produced the show and the game. NBC SW simply aired the game.American had a game on NBC Sports Washington today and they had their own pregame update 30 min show before it. How did they get a show like that and where is ours?
