He remains delusional to the bitter end.https://giantkiller.co/2021/02/05/domisback-mason-falls-to-dayton-before-heading-home/:
"State of the Program: Where do we stand now? Paulsen thinks we’re close to the top four, but not there yet.
'I think if we get everyone playing well on the same day, I think we can beat anyone,' Paulsen said. 'But the big issue is consistency across the board. And that’s a subtle thing, so clearly we’re not there right now. And yet I think we’ve shown stretches in every game that we can be. So, it’s just a matter of getting more consistency from our veteran guys. I think what’s key is getting a little more consistent productivity off the bench. I think that that’s important in being able to go on a road in a tough environment and finish plays.'"
I am honestly wondering at this point if he gets that or not though. Like I assume that a coach at his level recognizes that’s 90% of the battle from average teams and good teams. Not just at the mid major level, but at every level.Well, Paulsen is right, but that's the very definition of what separates top-tier and medium-to-lower teams. Consistency.
Every year, a ton more has to go right for the lower-tier teams to ascend...there's always a chance, but there's almost no room for error.
Richmond, meanwhile, can still lose a top guy and still be in the mix.
LaSalle can flash all the wins they want against the top four, doesn't mean they're close to being top four.
I mean, the Raiders beat KC, so they're really, really close, to SB-caliber, right?
I will say, a10 tourney is definitely more wide open than most years, at least. But the odds of us making a run...come on.

In the search for consistency he has jacked up his rotations, which surprise surprise leads to more inconsistency. Wild to watch it all go down, all while he avoids accountability for anything like it’s covid.
He said similar crap in the past. And then at the end of the season he admits he doesn't have the right type players to compete in the league that he is in.
We don't have anybody that's a decent on ball defender it starts there. Teams go right down the lane on us and get a bunch of easy baskets. AJ seems like he doesn't care anymore. Calixte doesn't have much. The new guys he won't play. Our shooting is terrible, we can barely make the free throws. We can't beat anyone and that's the truth.
Hasn't recruited enough shooting. Hasn't recruited anybody who can score in the post consistently. Has recruited small by position...including a lot of smaller guards. Doesnt use those guards to pressure ball. Hasn't recruited enough standout defenders....and many of the guys who can score are outright poor on defense.
Oduro and Kolek were steps in the right direction but mere fact that their skills are so necessary as soph and frosh is terrifying.
FT shooting may be the only thing he's kind of somewhat blameless...not like a coach usually can regress his players there even if he tries.

If ALL of our players play a perfect game at the same time we have a chance of beating the best teams in the league on one of their average days.
Granted he was snubbed a lot.As a head coach Seth made the NCAA tournament 3 times in 22 seasons.
He also spent years in the ACC where half the league makes the Tournament.Granted he was snubbed a lot.
But the point is still valid.
