To me, it's those few games so far (and there will be more of them) when we're getting killed at the 4 position because a, we have freshmen guarding their 4, and b, we have way undersized freshman trying to guard their 4.
But when Abram has played, he's been fairly consistently out of position or slow on rotations, so his extra length I don't think would help very much on that side of the ball anyway, so it's a wash.
For everyone who is puzzled about DeAndre's situation because he played so much last season and showed flashes of high-level ability:
It's easy to forget that he played mainly because Dave had no choice. With Marko suspended and Holloway quitting, it was an all hands on deck scenario for part of last season.
For whatever reason, Dave obviously trusts Kier more because since the Houston game, he essentially has been playing DeAndre's minutes.
So it could be as simple as DeAndre has been bypassed by the freshmen and isn't good enough to be a rotation player at Mason right now.
No disrespect intended, but it's not like DeAndre was a highly touted prospect. I'm pretty sure Mason was his only D-I offer. He was always going to be a project here.
Even if the staff missed on 3 of the 5 from the first recruiting class, hitting on Otis and Jaire means it was a ridiculously good group given the circumstances.
