GIVING DAY 2023
I wonder if former Hofstra head coach Mo Cassara would be a candidate? Cassara played point guard for Dave Paulsen at St. Lawrence. He was highly regarded as an assistant prior to his troubled tenure at Hofstra, but has been out of coaching since. He needs someone to give him another chance in a situation where he could be a relatively anonymous third assistant and not a distraction.

This position is crucial. Need a hound dog recruiter, and someone to speak up on the bench.

It would be nice if he did hire a link to the OCM regime. Ahmad would be my first choice but maybe Lamar or even Luke if he wants to get into coaching. Is there anyone else coaching from the GMU OCM days? I know it is a new day, but always good to have a guy who bleeds Green and Gold on staff. Scratch Luke.

I think Luke proved a few years ago that he loved George Mason when he showed up at the CAAT game vs. Ga. State wearing Mason gear. He didn't have to do that. But I think there would be better assistants out there. I'm afraid he would overshadow the new coach. Dorsett wouldn't, and I doubt Lamar really would.

I would like to see Paulsen add a defensive-minded assistant who can effectively teach and implement zone defense(s). Evidently, Paulsen rarely deploys a zone defense. But, IMO, you must generally play zone at least occasionally to be highly successful at this level.

if we have to tap the transfer list....how can you not sign a kid with a name like this.

I'd like Paulsen to try and keep Chris Kreider, I think he is a great recruiter and would really learn a ton from Dave if given the chance. Chris is the only guy from the old staff I'd even give a second look to. Houston and Skeeters just seemed like they were just sitting back and taking a pay check.

Unless he's already been hired some place else he can always be brought back if Paulsen wants him, also that might help keep the returning guys and recruits at Mason.

That's interesting, Pablo. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but what do you say to the people who say it's better to be GREAT at one thing (say Virginia, or Syracuse) than it is to be good at many?

I love how Lonergan breaks out the 1-3-1 at different times during the games just to throw off the offensive rhythm. Dunno why, but it just brings a smile to my face when it is called and the offense needs couple of possessions to figure it out, then boom back to man.

This is why I used the words "generally" and "occasionally".

I'd like Coach Paulsen to hire the guys he thinks will be best.

I'm currently 386 wins shy of his college coaching record. Not about to second guess someone who has been extremely successful at every stop.

Dave Paulsen has 396 college wins. So, you are obviously 396 wins shy of his college coaching record.
