One year too late. The obvious choice is now Michigan’s HC. IU will fail once again in its search.

Miami Hurricanes

"There’s been plenty of industry speculation here about New Mexico Lobos coach Richard Pitino, who has spent time in the state as an assistant under Billy Donovan and later as the head coach of the FIU Panthers. But a number of other top mid-major names could be involved, and a lateral move from a sitting high-major coach shouldn’t be ruled out either."

Virginia Cavaliers

"Tony Bennett’s sudden retirement weeks before the season put the Cavaliers in a tough spot, and interim coach Ron Sanchez has taken UVA to just a 11–12 record. New blood is needed here, as is a modernization of the Cavs’ operations offensively after years of Bennett’s grind-it-out system. In state, there’s the vcu Rams’ Ryan Odom, who might have the A-10’s best team this season and famously beat UVA as the UMBC Retrievers coach in 2018."

Florida State Seminoles

"The school announced Monday that Leonard Hamilton will resign at the end of the season, a move that has been widely expected for months. Hamilton, 76, was on his way to a fourth straight season missing the NCAA tournament. FSU seems like a strong personality fit for Will Wade, who’s widely expected to be in play for multiple big jobs this cycle. Other sharp recruiters like the High Point Panthers’ Alan Huss and Arkansas State Red Wolves’ Bryan Hodgson could also make sense. Florida State also has a significant alumni base now working in the NBA, such as Sam Cassell and Luke Loucks who could look into making the jump to college. Loucks played for Hamilton and is now an assistant with the Sacramento Kings."

La Salle men's basketball coach Fran Dunphy, the winningest coach in Philadelphia Big 5 history, announced on Thursday that he will retire from his position at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Dunphy, 76, will transition to the role of special assistant to the president at La Salle, his alma mater, agreeing to a lifetime contract for that role.

makes me wonder if there is something else at play here????

Evidently, the supporters believed that the Final Four run was a fluke, and were not encouraged to provide the requisite resources to sustain success.

"'I am extremely proud of what we accomplished during my time here,' Keatts said on social media, noting his tenure started with an NCAA investigation from the previous staff. '... As we enter this new era of college sports, I wholeheartedly believe that I am leaving the program in better position to succeed than when I started -- and that the basketball program will continue to thrive when supported to the level necessary to compete.'"

"Two potential targets for NC State are vcu's Ryan Odom and McNeese's Will Wade, sources told ESPN.

The Wolfpack were 12-19 this season, including a 5-15 record in the ACC. They did not qualify for this year's conference tournament."

My wife went to NC State so we follow the programs reasonably closely. We went to Phoenix last year with our kids for the Final Four game. It wasn't much of a secret that Keatts was gone last year if they hadn't made that run. Looks harsh from the outside, but really last year's team underachieved in the regular season and got hot at the right time. Everything fell apart this year, so not really that surprised by this.

I actually think moving from vcu to nc state is at best a lateral move for Odom. Maybe root for vcu to overpay Odom to keep him and deplete some of the school's athletic funding leaving less for players?
