, I'll respond. I don't think the issue is with forgetting how to coach. I see two main potential issues with hiring an old, out of practice coach:
1. Being a college coach in the last 4 years has changed dramatically. With the portal and NIL/revenue share, a college coach has to possess GM like capabilities to be successful now
2. Related to that, age could be an issue. It seems like it might take even more energy for a head coach and that tends to fade with age. We have seen many old school coaches retire in the last couple years when they realized they couldn't hack it under the current paradigm.
