"Thomas has been a longtime assistant coach under Ed Cooley, first at Providence for eight seasons then this past season with the Hoyas. He played a key role in leading the Friars to five NCAA tournaments during the staff's time with the program.

Prior to joining Cooley at Providence, Thomas was a high school and grassroots coach in Virginia, most notably leading T.C. Williams High School to the state title in 2008. He also coached the successful Boo Williams AAU program for 13 years, from 2002 to 2015."

"I can confirm multiple reports, including one from Jeff Goodman the UT Martin head coach Ryan Ridder will take over at Mercer.

Ridder led UTM to a 21-11 record this season, and a share of the OVC regular season title. In his three seasons at UTM, he’s gone 48-47 (.505). Ridder also spent four years at Bethune-Cookman (1 non-playing COVID season), where he went 48-45 (.516).

Prior to his time as a D1 head coach, Ridder spent 4 seasons as the head coach at NJCAA D1 Daytona State, where he had a ton of success with a 95-28 over all mark."

That is a solid hire for Mercer.

"For Dan Monson, it ain't over yet.

Six days after he was dismissed by the team, Monson led Long Beach State to the NCAA tournament with a 74-70 win over UC Davis on Saturday in the Big West tournament title game, adding at least a few more days to his tenure."
"On Monday, Long Beach State announced it had "mutually" parted ways with Monson after 17 seasons, but the school agreed to allow him to coach the rest of the campaign. After LBSU lost five in a row entering the Big West tournament, there were few reasons to believe the season would last much longer for Monson and his crew.

But a run through the conference tournament now guarantees that LBSU will hear its name called on Selection Sunday for the second NCAA tournament appearance of Monson's tenure, amid improbable odds and unique circumstances."

"LBSU's move to announce Monson's dismissal before the conference tournament but still allow him to coach has become even more bizarre now that Monson has actually beat the odds and extended his season.

Despite LBSU's announcement, Monson said he hasn't lost his passion for coaching and is ready to make his next move."

"UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos on Sunday announced Austin Claunch as the seventh head coach of the Roadrunners’ men’s basketball program. Claunch, who calls Houston his hometown and currently serves as an assistant coach at national power Alabama, led Nicholls to a pair of Southland Conference titles as head coach."

"Prior to taking over the head coaching position at Nicholls, Claunch spent two years as an assistant coach for the Colonels under current South Alabama head coach Richie Riley. He worked closely with Riley on offensive and defensive schemes and game plans and coordinated all basketball camps. Claunch was part of an historic 2017-18 campaign that included the most wins (21) since 1995 and the best Southland Conference record (15-3) since 1998. Among the players he worked with daily were guards Roddy Peters (SLC Newcomer of the Year, First Team SLC), Jahvaughn Powell (All-SLC Defensive Team), Lafayette Rutledge (Single-season three-point record holder) and Tevon Saddler (All-SLC Second Team).

Claunch spent three seasons at Clemson, two as a graduate manager and one as an assistant coach, where he primarily coordinated video services for the Tigers. Prior to joining Clemson, he spent the 2012-13 season as Director of Player Development at George Mason.

Claunch was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Houston, Texas. He played high school basketball at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory as a three-year starter and a two-time team captain. Claunch was a two-time recipient of Strake’s Kenneth McGregor Award, based on his leadership and dedication on and off the court."

"Senior Advisor for Intercollegiate Athletics Ross Bjork today announced the hiring of Jake Diebler as head coach of the Ohio State men’s basketball program. Diebler, who becomes the 15th head coach in program history, will receive a five-year contract."

"Diebler, the first Ohioan to be named Ohio State’s head coach in 35 years, is in his eighth season at Ohio State. He was named the interim head coach on Feb. 14 and led the Buckeyes to a 6-2 record over the last month of the season. The first of those six wins came in his first game as the interim coach and in stunning fashion, over No. 2 Purdue on Feb. 19. Ohio State lost at Minnesota in its next game, but then won five consecutive games: at Michigan State, vs. Nebraska, vs. Michigan, at Rutgers and over Iowa in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament."

"No deal is done, sources said, but the two sides are in discussions.

Schertz is coming off leading Indiana State to its best season in almost 25 years, as the Sycamores won their first Missouri Valley regular-season title since 2000. They fell in the conference tournament championship game to Drake and were one of the first teams left out of the NCAA tournament.

Entering the NIT, for which they earned a 1-seed, they have 28 wins -- the second most in a season in school history.

Schertz is in his third season at Indiana State, guiding the program to a 12-win turnaround from year one to year two in Terre Haute. After an 11-20 campaign in 2021-22, the Sycamores went 23-13 last season, including a win over Missouri Valley champion Drake.

Prior to being hired in 2021 to replace Greg Lansing, Schertz was a successful Division II coach at Lincoln Memorial. Under his tutelage, the Railsplitters went to three Division II Final Fours and won 30 games four times. During his 13 seasons as head coach, he went 337-69, winning 83% of his games."
