I'm no fan of vcu but they know how to run a program. Why no other schools do this is beyond me.

Oh I absolutely hate vcu, but am immensely jealous of their commitment to their basketball program.

Honestly if you didn’t believe that he is one of the best recruiters in the country while he was at Mason, what he did their retaining talent while somehow convincing Josh to come up there and Fernandez to presumably come off the bench is impressive. Watch what’s about to happen to vcu's roster.

but externally, it seemed as if vcu essentially had their new coach hired while the old one hadn't even resigned.

I think the story is that Odom was an asst at AU years back, and the vcu AD met him back then. So they already had a connection to him and reached out early.

If you read their boards - Rhodes was signaling he was out earlier than the players and fans knew. Its a big issue over there and a point of consternation.
