It would highly benefical for our young team to experience this. No matter the tourney.

Too early to predict who goes where. Best to wait until after the tournament to start making guesses.

Agreed, the way Paulsen is going, this team can have an outside shot at the NCAA tournament next year (if the big man issue is somehow fixed) and is shaping up to be NCAA caliber teams the next two years after that with Otis/Jaire as seniors and then Boyd/Newman/Kier/Relvao/Temara as seniors.

Also, I wouldn't count our URI making the NCAA's...they really only have one bad loss (to Fordham), but they have now have two top 25 RPI wins (Cincy and vcu) and a couple of other solid wins: Belmont (54). Right now they are sitting at an RPI of 44.

I wouldn't put it past them to get the auto-bid, but at the very least winning their last two games of the regular season (@St. Joes and Davidson) and a run to the championship game might be all they need.

The one knock is they don't have a lot of top 100 wins (or even games), which is the problem with the A-10 has this year to many of us flirting just outside the top 100 classification: La Salle (119), Davidson (112), George Mason (113).

It's also hard to see anyone besides Dayton winning it all right now.

I also think it will help in the recruiting trail. I know recruits don't get excited for a CBI tourney. But Paulsen can sell the progress he made.

He can say in just 2 years he completely turned the program from 9-22 team to a 20+ winning team.

Palm/CBS has RI as one of the last 4 in, Lunardi has them as the 3rd team out with work left to do. Need to win last two and to make championship (because they will need another win over vcu/Dayton in semi's and to avoid another bad loss). Still hoping we can get 4 in by having someone other than vcu/Dayton/RI win championship. Would also be happy with 3 if vcu loses out and falls off bubble.

Field of bubble teams seems extremely weak this year due to lack of mid major top 50 rpi teams and lots of BCS teams just above .500 (or even below .500 in conference) on the bubble. I think this means your resume does not need to be as strong as years past to have a chance, but I think it also makes it more of a toss up for teams like RI.

im good with any post season play and I think the team would be as well, no matter what post season tourney it is. CBI, CIT whatever, just to have the experience for the fellow freshman & sophomores would be huge.

The last time we had a post-season tournament opportunity there were very few fans who supported the team. Sure, we filled the RAC for game 2 of the finals, but game 3 in the Patriot Center fielded sparse and disappointing attendance.

Many of you scoffed, *CBI? Who gives a dump!!:vomit:" Many more of you blamed Hewitt, Hewitt, and Hewitt as the top 3 reasons for your apathy (you know who you are).

I think that was a travesty. Any post-season opportunity deserves us fans offering our unrelenting and unqualified support. Would we have it this time if the opportunity presents itself?

Agreed. But I also don't know why we moved game 3 to the Patriot Center. The RAC atmosphere was a big reason why we win that first game.

Hosting the game in the RAC was a logistical nightmare for the players, broadcasters, media, event staff, and athletic department.

The CBI game was on short notice as I remember. Big difference in something scheduled months ahead of time.

EBA was unavailable due to the circus or something wasn't it? Some performance was going on the night of the first game.

I do remember the Santa Clara coach was pretty salty about playing at the RAC with a post-game quote something in the vein of "we get to play in a real arena for the next game."

Green Day was in town the day after, maybe they had to set up earlier than normal?

If they figured it out for the first two games, they could have figured it out for the third.
