We discredit Richmond’s wins vs a power 5 for no reason. BC better than Nebraska. Richmond is pretty good fellas.

George Mason beating Nebraska isn't like Dayton beating Georgia, but neither is Richmond beating Boston College.

Boston College and Nebraska are within the same Kenpom range 100-150 (Boston College 129, Nebraska 143). So, they're about equivalent. We also won by similar margins (Mason by 19, Richmond by 20).

New Mexico State is a better win then either right now.

The point is this: Richmond getting lots of love for their wins so far, and most people still have Mason in the 9-11 range (yeah, some people think Mason is going to finish bottom 4). It's time to start defending your boys.

And, yes, Richmond is good, UMass is also better then expected (UMass also getting a lot more love than Mason). We play both twice this year.

I’m still not sold on UMass. They’ve beaten who they should and gotten destroyed by Rutgers. Last year they beat Providence and sucked the rest of the way. Wouldn’t shock me if it happens again.

Umass is so damn overrated it hurts. Duquesne the real school being slept on.

It’s not for no reason. It’s because all three of the P5 teams Richmond has beaten are terrible.

Vandy was winless in the SEC last year and put up 92 on the Spiders.

Wisconsin is slow, can’t shoot and will be lucky to finish in the top half of the Big Ten.

And BC is either the worst or second-worst team in the ACC. (They did beat Wake, who is also abysmal).

As Gemini noted, NMSU is better than anyone Richmond has beaten. But as usual, people are getting hung up on the brand names ... so lazy.

True but schools like NMSU will have a tendency for their ratings to go down as they enter conference play.

The P5 teams have a tendency for the ratings to go up as they enter conference play because they have so many more opportunities at top 50 Kenoom/RPI teams. Just by virtue of playing those teams.

NMSU is a much better team than Nebraska or BC. But I was just referring to Kenpom/RPI positioning which will be crucial to most teams hoping to make the NCAA tourney or NIT come March.

I don’t think anyone is capping for the Vandy win....

Wisconsin is slow but that’s about all I agree with on your take. They have started the season very slow but are definitely a contender for a top 5 big ten finish.

And you’re mostly right about Boston College other than they would finish bottom 4 in A10 that’s just delusional. Thornton and Popovic would mostly likely be second teamers and as Bona from the past knows you only need two really good players to finish top 6 in A10.

I bet one of the above teams finishes higher KEn Pom than NMSU.

Just be consistent because you get very upset when someone on twitter says the what you are saying about Richmond about us. I think you definitely have that right to be upset you just shouldn’t recycle someone else’s bad take and use it against Richmond

Very impressed they blew BC out using a seldom used backup center as a centerpiece with Golden out.

Sleeper, all I’m asking for is consistency. If people (not us) were all of a sudden talking about Mason as a legit top-4/at-large team with the schedule we’ve played, I would tell them to pump the brakes.

Just don’t get all the Richmond love. They’re coming off back to back 20-loss seasons with a coach who is the very definition of meh. It’s solely because they’ve beaten three “power conference” teams.

Ironically, the next two opponents for Mason - American on Saturday and UMBC 2 weeks later on the 21st of Dec - played tonight against each other. American beat UMBC 85-61

Wasn't there a thread somewhere about the teams we already played or were going to play this year and it was like following their games? Something like that?

Mason moves back down to 122 Ken Pom and their SOS moves back to 303

American 207 and umbc 249 before TCU

https://www.a10talk.com/atlantic-10-bracketology-12-3-19/:

"George Mason: Off to an incredible . . . start, George Mason is kind of in the same boat as Saint Louis; the Patriots have a good win (over New Mexico St. on a neutral court), but beyond that, most this team’s wins have been over cupcakes, and that’s not enough to get the attention of the bracket. Mason will have to close out the non-conference schedule undefeated to have a shot at creeping up onto the bubble, and that would include a win over TCU on the road. If George Mason can finish 3rd in the league and pick up some big wins while avoiding catastrophic losses, I think it’d have a chance at an at-large come March."

Luke Frampton out for the season for Davidson with a personal issue. Still no word on when Kishawn Pritchett will be available. Terrible news for a Davidson team that already struggles with depth and is strikingly unathletic.

At this point I'd be surprised if Davidson finishes top 4. They have real problems, and Grady has quietly been pretty good - turning it around isn't simply a matter of him figuring it out.

Agree but Davidson has 62 adjSOS right now. A10 will make that go into the 100s and will feature easier games than temple Marquette wake and auburn.
They have played 2 true home games so far as well.
Big loss for Davidson but everyone needs to hold their horses. They have a 6-7 man rotation which doesn’t bode well but I think they still get top 4-5 in A10 If JAG and Grady stay in the lineup. They get st joes and Fordham twice. That’s 4 guaranteed wins already

They do get those games, but they do have to play vcu x2, Richmond x2, and URI x2 plus Duquesne and Dayton on the road. That's 8 really tough games.

If they slip up against SLU at home, or Mason at home, or away to St. Bonaventure, they'll have a hard time staying in the top 5.

Of URI, SLU, Duquesne, Richmond, and Davidson which teams are most likely to finish top 4?

wow, interesting on Davidson. I was wondering what has been going on with them this season...now we know I guess...also backup G David Czerapowicz (hip) is also out for the season.

Frampton and Pritchett are both starters from last season, and they already struggled with depth. Additionally, if you haven't seen Davidson play yet this year, they are *strikingly* unathletic. Probably eight A10 teams have better athletes, including Mason, Duquesne, and SLU.

They need to figure something out fast, or hope one of their freshmen turns into something. They haven't been competitive in the losses, and Charlotte just lost to UNC Asheville. Right now I'm selling.
