According to Media Day, Wilson might not redshirt. Great shot blocking ability.

Dave said they've already had more shots blocked in practice than they had all last season.

Still think it might be best for AJ to redshirt, though. We're gonna be playing a lot of 4-guard lineups and that doesn't leave many minutes unless Jalen and Troy are hurt/in foul trouble.

Why burn a year of eligibility for garbage minutes? Having him and Goanar Mar in the same class would be excellent for our program going forward.

I bet he still redshirts, he is super skinny right now. At the coaches clinic he was pushed around with ease.

I would be super happy if Dixon did not see the court this year or unless Myles Tate is also on the court in blowouts

Poor Myles. If he wasn't so damn short he would be a pretty decent player. I remember a couple years ago there was a player from Davidson that was lighting us up and Myles was our only guard that was fast enough to guard him. He did a pretty good job shutting him down. He also had a few big 3's that game.

I was mildly surprised by that---thought that Dixon or Relvao would be the backups underneath.

I get the sense that, barring injury/foul trouble, neither of those guys are gonna play much this season.

There are only 200 minutes to go around and we have 8 young, talented guards battling for 160 of them.

Otis, Jaire and Marquise are going to start and play around 30 mpg apiece.

Abram should be good for 25.

That leaves a total of 45 for Boyd, Newman, Kier and Murrell.

I expect Relvao to get more time next season, provided he fully recovers from his knee problem.

But Temara looks to me like a 3-year starter as an athletic "stretch 5" who can score beyond the arc, in the pick-and-pop game and in the paint.

I seem to recall Dave having a little success with a guy like that at another school.

Dude, Muscala is 6'11. You've seen Temara, and I don't buy 6'8 for one single solitary second. Yeah, he's as athletic a guy as we've ever had here at Mason, but he's not a full time 5.

Troy is at least 6-8 -- he claims he's actually 6-9 -- but regardless, he's taller than Jalen, who will be our starting 5 this season.

After a year in the weight room, it's reasonable to think Troy will be 6-8, 230. That's plenty big enough to play the 5 in the A-10.

Better get used to some undersized lineups because we're going to be playing a lot of guards as long as Dave is our coach.

Wishful thinking but hopefully Troy is still growing! I think they say guys grow through their 20s.

I grew two inches in college, so its possible

After watching him at Mason Madness, I have to agree that he doesn't seem to be 6'8" or even that close. He's a pogo stick and super athletic, but I can't imagine him banging with some of the bigs we'll be facing this year with all that much success.

Does it matter at all that our coach can imagine it? He's the one who said Troy is the backup 5.

Basketball is changing and the days of needing an aircraft carrier in the middle are over.

The Golden State Warriors almost won back-to-back NBA titles with the 6-6 Draymond Green playing major minutes at the 5.

I'm pretty sure we can compete in the A-10 with a 6-8 "center."

Anybody concerned about Relvao? Spent Mason Madness in warm up gear and didn't attempt a layup or dunk. Also didn't see him participating in the military drills from last month. Is the knee that bad? Is the health risk worth the scholarship? Paulsen must see something special in him.
