Same, 6-11 guys who can hit the 3 don’t grow on trees. Lots of him hitting wide-open shots off drive-and-kick in his videos, definitely an interesting prospect.
They might not grow on trees, but this guy weighs the same as Stas and is only an inch taller. We already have a "big" who shoots 3s.

My sense is what we're lacking in a 5 is someone with some bulk who can provide some rim protection. Someone closer to Gio than another Stas.

Thinking about where things stand Mason probably has at least 7 of its top 8 in the rotation depending on if CTS is going to bring in another 5. TBH I really like what we have in place so far.

I could see starting lineup shaping up to be:
1) O’Connor
2) Hill
3) Long
4) Addbayo
5) …

With Troutman and Mincy in the Billups and K.D. role playing starters minutes off the bench. Ellington feels like a better Gio replacement than a starting 5 and I could see Stas getting Begg-level minutes at the 4.

I think Mason needs a starting 5, another option at the 4, and a reserve PG. I really like Jones out of AU as the 4, and hope the we can bring in a 5 that is either long (6’10-6’11) or thick (250+), preferably both.

Tony seems frustrated that some players are taking a bigger pay day to probably not play much at a P4 than possibly star at Mason for a bit less cash.

At least, that’s how I’m reading it.

I'm not drunk, but what do I know? It reads to me that one must continue to work on one's skills and conditioning to last long and succeed. If one is not willing then don't expect to play.

Sitting on the bench will wear on most players. Even if they don’t realize it at first. And that might even effect how much money they could potentially command if they play overseas after college.

Riding the pine equals minimum pro contracts. It’s hard for an overseas team to evaluate a player only based on practice film.

So in the long term some players may be hijacking their earning potential by chasing the cash.

Tony's quote might also mean if one is paid to play then one MUST play and play hard ALWAYS—faking an amputation at the ankle be damned. Evaluators, managers, and coaches at the next levels see these shenanigans and a player's future value will suffer.

You’re reading too much into it.

Tony posted this on Twitter Friday morning:

Game is rigged. @netflix I want to pitch you guys a documentary, it’s Called “Rich Bench Riders”

He’s clearly ticked about guys taking more money to sit, but I don’t see that changing as long as P4 programs are spending $8M and up on their roster annually.

I’ll be honest, watching the coach whose salary we damn near just doubled complain about the system kinda rubs me the wrong way. I get it that it is shitty and things are stacked against us, but we are now paying him very handsomely to figure it out and succeed in it. Complaining on social media does diddly shit.
